Bill Russo is the Shanghai-based founder and CEO of Automobility Limited, a strategy and investment advisory firm helping its clients to create the future of mobility. His over 35 years of experience include 15 years as an automotive executive in China and Asia and nearly 12 years in the electronics and information technology industries. He has worked as an advisor and consultant for numerous multinational and local Chinese firms in the formulation and implementation of their global market and product strategies. Bill is also currently serving as the chair of the Automotive Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. In his current role, Bill advises startups, corporations and investors on how to maximize their participation in China’s Automobility Revolution. Bill was previously the regional head of Chrysler in North East Asia.

Jack Cheng is the Chief Executive Officer of MIH Consortium. Known as a pioneer in the automotive industry, and his vision lives through the creation of the MIH Open EV Alliance, an open ecosystem that enables brands to participate in the mobility industry with lower barrier of entry, while providing alliance members an opportunity to grow their businesses and accelerate innovation.

Prior to joining MIH, Jack was the Co-founder of NIO Inc., also Chairman and CEO of XPT. NIO is known as one of China’s No.1 EV cars. Early in Jack’s career, he knew that learning the auto business from the ground up would serve him well. His leadership roles as China Country Manager at Magneti Marelli and later as Chairman of Fiat (China) Automobiles, Co. Ltd. were important to building relationships and learning the business. His ability to see the “big picture” came at Ford in 1981 where he started in components design engineering and later moved to product planning, product development, and supply chain management.

He believes that the next phase of the automotive industry and smart mobility space - will be the greatest opportunity ever. The future is smart, electric autonomous vehicles and MIH will bring together the right partners to make this vision a reality.

Simon Yang (President at Aptiv Asia Pacific)

Dr. Yang is the president of Asia Pacific of Aptiv. He works alongside the regional executive team on cross-divisional initiatives and leads the stewardship of Aptiv’s relationships with government and senior customer contacts.


Aptiv started operations in China since 1993, and has established 18 manufacturing facilities and 4 technology centers across China, with more than 40,000 employees. Annual sales revenue in China reached US$4B in 2021.

Dr. Yang started his career with General Motors in 1995 in Warren, Ohio and relocated to China in 2003 to start-up connection systems operations in Asia. In 2008, he was appointed Managing Director for Delphi Connection Systems in Asia, driving substantial business growth from 2004 to 2021 and playing a key role in multiple acquisitions with highly successful integration. In 2014, Simon was appointed Delphi China President, directing the overall business in China. In December 2017, with the successful completion of Powertrain Division spin-off, Delphi officially became Aptiv. Simon became the president of Aptiv Asia Pacific in January 2018.

Mr. Yang earned his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Master of Material Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in China. He received his Master and Ph.D. of Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Simon also completed the Senior Executive Program of Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He has published 11 research papers in several USA and European science and technology journals.

Tom (Yuesheng) Tan is Vice President and President China of BorgWarner Inc. In this role, he oversees BorgWarner operations in China and chairs the China Steering Committee, consisting of all business units leadership in China. Tan sits on the company Strategy Board. Concurrent with his China president role, Tan has held several executive operation roles including Vice President of Transmission Systems, Vice President of Drivetrain Groups as well as the General Manager of Turbo and Emission Systems China. Tan joined BorgWarner in 1995 and before taking the China president role, he had severed as General Manager for BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems (China), Asia Controller & Business Development Manager for TorqTransfer Systems (US), and Finance Director of BorgWarner’s joint venture in China.

Before BorgWarner, Tan held management positions at United Technology (US) and Shanghai International Investment and Trust Corporation (China) in the areas of finance, business development, and international direct investment in China.
Tan holds an engineering diploma from Tongji University in Shanghai and Master of Business Administration from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota. Tan is also a graduate of Advanced Management Program from Kellogg Business School as well as other executive programs from Oxford, INSEAD and Stanford.

Tan currently serves as Board Director of BorgWarner Asia Co., Ltd. and BorgWarner Singapore Investments Pte. Ltd., as well as Chairman or Board Directors of all 15 BorgWarner operations in China, including four joint ventures.

Sng Yih is the China division president and member of the global executive management team for Autoliv, the world leading Automotive Safety Systems supplier. 25 years experience in the automotive industry, Sng Yih spent the last 18 years in China, initially in Beijing and for the last 11 years, in Shanghai. He had previously led the Clean Air business for Tenneco and the E-Systems business for Lear Corp in Asia Pacific. Sng Yih and his team in Autoliv is focus on China solutions for China customers, with a strong focus on speed, quality and innovation.

An experienced industry professional with over 20 years working in the logistics and supply chain solution industry.  Jarrod is currently the Chief Business Development Officer for East Asia at Yusen Logistics, a member of the NYK Group.  He is also responsible for their Supply Chain Solutions division in China.

Jarrod has held senior leadership positions in Japan, Singapore, and the USA, including over 16 years at NYK Line container division. 

Jarrod received his MBA in Supply Chain Logistics from Rutgers University in 2007.

Jarrod graduated from Washington & Jefferson college, and has his roots in western Pennsylvania.

Dr. Zongwei (William) Liu serves as Associate Professor at School of Vehicle and Mobility and Assistant Director of Tsinghua Automotive Strategy Research Institute (TASRI). He mainly works on technology evaluations and decisions, technological innovation system and automotive industry development strategy.

Got a doctor’s degree in vehicle engineering from Jilin University (formerly known as Jilin University of Technology), researched as a visiting scholar in Sloan Automotive Lab of MIT. Dr. Liu also worked for Geely Automotive Research Institute for six years and successively served as Deputy Director of Technology Management Department, Senior Project Manager of Project Management Department, Director of Product Strategy and Planning Department until finally assumed the position as Assistant Director (Deputy Director level) of Geely Automotive Research Institute. During the six years, Dr. Liu was directly involved in leadership of five major business segments including management of corporate product strategy, technology, project, IPR and business. Since 2014, he has been serving in Tsinghua University.

Dr. Liu gets involved in over 50 strategy research projects at national, industry-wide and corporate levels in recent years. As a member of the research group experts and the third author, he got involved in the compilation of research reports under the National Research Project on Strategies for a Stronger Manufacturing Country of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In addition, he was also a member of the research groups for major indictors and automotive technology roadmap. Moreover, as one of the authors, Dr. Liu involved in the compilation of the report entitled Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap (Version 1.0 and 2.0) and “Auto+” Crossover Integration Project from Implementation Plans for Eight Key Projects of the Mid-to Long-Term Development Plan for the Automotive Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China, and so on. He has led and organized the compilation of research reports on corporate, product and technological strategies of approximately 1 million words, and published over 60 papers and 11 books, with 15 granted patents.

Currently, Dr. Liu also serves as a Senior Member and the Director of China-SAE, Secretary General of Technical Management Committee and Member of Talents Evaluation Work Committee, Executive Director of China Auto Talents Society as well as Assistant Editor-in-chief of Automotive Innovation. He is frequently invited to deliver keynote speeches at prominent industry forums and publish research achievements and insights on mainstream press and media.

Based in China since 1985, Dr. Jonathan Woetzel has been instrumental in building McKinsey's China office. In addition to his work helping Chinese and other Asian businesses prepare for global growth, Jonathan is a director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey's business and economics research arm. Jonathan has led numerous research efforts on global economic trends, including growth and productivity, urbanization, affordable housing, energy and sustainability, e-commerce, and the economic impact of the Internet, as well as on productivity growth and economic development in China and Asia.

Jay Hwang is a Senior Analyst at S&P Global Mobility for North America battery domain. His responsibilities include researching on xEV battery supply chain, battery cell and materials trends and writing in-depth analyses.

Prior to joining S&P Global Mobility, Jay worked as a Market Research Analyst at Samsung SDI America, mainly focused on providing battery sales forecast & collaboration strategies on xEV customers in North America.

Jay has been dedicated to xEV research since 2014 when he started working as an Equity Research Analyst at CLSA. He continued his research on xEV OEMs, battery supply chain and charging throughout his finance career at sellside equity research, mutual fund and hedge fund before joining Samsung.
He holds an MBA degree in Economics and Analytic Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Materials Science from Pohang University of Science and Technology (South Korea) and has 3 years of work experience as an engineer in OLED display.
