Founded in 2005, the nine-piece band’s infectious sound and authenticity keeps the group highly in demand around China’s music scene and internationally. With more than 700 shows and 13 years under their belt, Studio 188 is a tight powerhouse; enjoying the influences of a staggering array of nationalities and cultures through the personnel it hosts. The matching wardrobe, unrivalled slick style and unique horn section “The Brass Monkeys” powering the band’s big sound, brings the party alive from the moment the band hits the stage.
Playing musical styles of classic Rock ‘n’ Soul music from the 60’s right through to current day hits, the band rules the dance floors and the audiences rave at the music that they all know and love. The Shanghai Rolex Masters, F1, The World Music Festival, Miss Universe and the Australian Open are just a few examples of events where Studio 188 have been invited to perform over the years. Michael Rosenthal – Emcee
Michael has been managing organizations for more than twenty years. He graduated from the American University Washington College of law, clerked for two United States federal judges, served eight years as a Federal Prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice (receiving an Outstanding Attorney Award in 1993 and 1996), and as Minister of Justice and Special Prosecutor for the Republic of Palau. In early 2005, he moved to China to serve as Asia Pacific CEO for Day Light Inc., USA, and has subsequently worked in a variety of industries including environment, education, human resources, fashion, retail, health/beauty and media. He serves as President of U.S. Green Solutions, Senior Consultant for Netspring, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Environmental Committee and Chairman of the Greater Las Vegas China Business Club. Michael is a professional trainer and business coach who has serviced International companies including Baxter, Bayer, Shanghai GM, Johnson Controls, SAIC Motors, SAP and others. He also runs Imperial Competitions and is an actor who has appeared in numerous movies, television shows, commercials and promotional videos.
Sevi Ettinger is a 15 year old student from the United States who moved to Shanghai with her family in 2012. She attends high school at an American International school and is already being called "a rising star” by many in the music industry. Sevi has been singing since the age of 3, but she caught the attention of some very talented artists in the music industry when, at the age of 14, inspired by the Syrian refugee crisis and a backing track she heard online, she wrote the song "Salty Water” and recorded it on her smart phone.
When her father put "Salty Water" on his WeChat moments, it ended up being heard by singer/songwriter Phillip Jarrell and Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bova. (Jarrell recorded for such labels as Motown and 20th Century Fox Records. He wrote “Torn Between Two Lovers,” which went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard charts. Bova has worked with many artists, including Michael Jackson, Katy Perry and Cyndi Lauper to name a few. He also won a Grammy as a producer on Celine Dion's Album of the Year, "Falling Into You")
Fast forward one year and Sevi is now working with Jarrell and Bova in the studio in Shanghai and LA creating her debut album set to come out this summer. Sevi will be performing two songs from her soon-to-be-released album at the 2018 AmCham Ball. Sevi is a strong advocate for social justice and 20% of the proceeds from her song, Salty Water, will go to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). www.seviettinger.com. Gu Mengbei & Fan Chenli Both with degrees in dance from Shanghai Theatre Academy, Gu Mengbei & Fan Chenli formed a duet. They are capable of a wide range of dancing categories including folk dance, ballet and modern dance and have participated in international dance art exchange programs in Hong Kong and South Korea. Their experiences in opening and closing ceremonies, television reality shows and nation-wide competitions enrich the richness and texture of their performance.
Xin Xin
Xin Xin, who graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and earned a level 12 certification in professional violin, started her violin career from an early age. She was chief in orchestra during high school and college, and her stage kept expanding from school performances to ceremonies, weddings, banquets, exhibitions and product launching events. Having long-term cooperation with Pudong Shangri-La, Hilton Hotel, Grand Hyatt Hotel, etc., she performed with both classical orchestra and electronic bands and can fully digest different concepts.
DJ Salva
DJ Salva is a seasoned open-format turntablist and spins jazz, African, Latin, funk and soul. He is used to performing in front of crowds at some of the finest clubs in Shanghai and is excellent in taking the energy to another level as guests mingle at the event. His music always ensures the perfect environment for all the occasions in which distinction is a priority.
