Gwendolyn Cardno arrived in Shanghai in June 2015 as the Deputy Consul General, previously serving at U.S. missions in Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan and the UK. Cardno has also worked at the White House and on the China Desk at the State Department. Previous to those assignments, she was an advance officer for Secretaries Powell and Rice. From 1999-2001, she worked at the U.S. Consulate in Shenyang. Before joining the Foreign Service in 1999, Cardno worked on the Emerging Markets Index Desk at ING Barings in New York, and she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Columbia University. A native of Virginia, she and her husband Tom have two daughters.

Cindy Chan joined Focus Media (China) Holdings Co. Ltd as Chief Strategy Officer in 2005; she was then selected as Partner of Focus Media Group in 2017. Focus Media is the largest lifestyle media group in China. Focus Media Group serves more than 3,000 brands, including Benz, BMW, Apple, Samsung, Siemens, Unilever, P&G, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, and JD.

Chan is one of the top management team members responsible for the integration of acquired companies into Focus Media, and privatization from NASDAQ and IPOs in China's stock market.

Prior to her experience at international media agency, Chan worked at Qingdao Labor Bureau from 1987-1997. Following those years, Chan dedicated herself in China’s media market for decades; she previously worked in an international 4A group, and she contributes media insight, consumer insight and market insight as a media market professor. Chan worked with Kantar Media Research on the world’s first outdoor TV audience rating system. She also worked with Millward Brown and promoted the first multi-screen assessment tool in China (evaluating media effectiveness across screens from home TV, outdoor TV, PC to mobile).

Kenneth Jarrett, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai since September 2013. Prior to that he was the Greater China Chairman for APCO Worldwide, a Washington-based public affairs consultancy from 2008 to 2013, and before that a U.S. diplomat from 1982 to 2008. During his 26-year diplomatic career, his postings included Consul General in Shanghai, Deputy Consul General in Hong Kong, and Director of Asian Affairs at the White House National Security Council. He also served in Beijing, Chengdu, Singapore, and had several assignments in Washington, DC. Mr. Jarrett has degrees from Cornell University, Yale University and the National War College.

Ms. Gebi Liang is the Partner Director of Cloud and Enterprise Group, Microsoft Asia-Pacific Research and Development Group. She has led the China Cloud Innovation Center (CCIC) to successfully incubate & launch cloud services to address the unique needs from China local customers. She is currently responsible to develop and run services on Microsoft Azure targeting customers at global scale. At the same time, Ms. Liang has always been an enthusiastic evangelist in promoting various open source technologies and solutions as Microsoft embraces Open source.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Gebi was a 15-year veteran of Intel and held several key technical and leadership roles in the US & China.

Vikram currently serves as the Sr. HR Director for the General Electric (GE) Corporation’s Greater China region. In his most recent assignment Vikram served as the HR Director for GE ASEAN and the HR Leader for GE’s Oil & Gas business for the Asia Pacific region, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Before this, he served as the HR Leader for GE’s Financial Services business across Asia Pacific, based in Tokyo, Japan, while concurrently holding the role of HR Director for GE Japan. Terry joined Citi in London in 1998 initially responsible for HR in the Operations and Technology areas for Europe, mid-East, Africa and Asia. In 1999 he was appointed HR Head for Western Europe with the prime focus on merging the Corporate and Investment Banking businesses of Citibank and Salomon Smith Barney.

In May 2000 Terry moved to Hong Kong to lead the Citi HR function for all Corporate and Investment Banking in Asia Pacific. He is now Managing Director and Head of HR for all Citi businesses in Asia Pacific and a member of the AP Executive Management Committee.

Prior to joining Citi Terry was Vice President and Head of H.R. for Ingersoll-Rand Europe Middle East and Africa, he was part of the European Management Committee which ran all of their European businesses from their Paris Headquarters where Terry was based. This was his second career with Ingersoll-Rand where he had previously worked before leaving to start his own consulting firm.

Christine Lam is Chief Executive Officer of Citi in the People’s Republic of China. She is responsible for all of Citi’s businesses and franchise operations in China and is based in Shanghai. Ms. Lam is also President of Citibank (China) Co., Ltd., Citi's locally incorporated bank in China.

Ms. Lam was previously Head of Operations and Technology for Citi in Asia Pacific responsible for Operations, Technology and Shared Services functions that support Citi's businesses across 16 markets in Asia. She also provided oversight for the Global Citi Service Centers in Singapore, Philippines, China, Malaysia and India.

Ms. Lam joined Citi in 1983 and since then has held numerous and diverse management positions in Hong Kong, Canada and Asia Pacific regional roles. In the early 1990s, she spearheaded Citi's securities services business ventures in the China B-Share market before she moved on to run the Citi Transaction Services business in Hong Kong.

Today, Adele is the President of EF English Centers for Kids and Teens. In this role, she oversees the expansion of EF's schools for kids and teens across China. Earlier, given his extensive experience leading fast-growing organizations and his strong track record at EF, Jacob was selected in 2004 to become President of EF Kids & Teens Worldwide. In this role, he oversaw the expansion of the EF Kids and Teens Division in a number of key markets, including China, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Middle East and Central Asia. Under his leadership, the division grew revenue by 280% and more than doubled the number of schools. In addition to managing the finance and operations functions at EF schools, Jacob was closely involved in product development for the kids and teens audience, continuously working to improve the student experience as well as keeping parents better informed of their child’s progress.

Jean Liu is a seasoned executive in business development, marketing and corporate affairs. Her career spans the globe from north America to Asia. Currently, Ms. Liu is Senior Vice President, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Education First (EF), world's largest privately held education company. She leads the company's external affairs functions. Prior to joining EF, Ms. Liu was heading the Cloud marketing team for IBM's Growth Market Unit with a worldwide team under her leadership. She later went on to lead IBM China's marketing team for Cloud and for the technology services business. Before joining IBM in Shanghai, Ms. Liu was Vice President of Corporate Affairs for EDS Corporation. Based in Shanghai, she covered government relations, business development, partner relationships and marketing and communications for EDS in China. She was also on the Board of an EDS joint venture in China as well as Vice Chairman of China Association of Services Trade.

Ms. Liu also spent 5 years in the telecom industry, first as director of brand management and advertising at AT&T Asia Pacific. Later she became the global vice president for brand management and advertising for AT&T and BT's joint venture, based in Hong Kong.

Before joining the technology industry, Ms. Liu gained extensive advertising, public relations and marketing experience with leading global agencies, holding management positions with public relations firm Burson-Marsteller and advertising agency D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles (DMB&B) in the United States and Asia.

Ms. Liu holds a BA degree in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Catherine relocated to Shanghai in 2003, where she is now Group Vice President for ADEN Services, a smart Integrated Facilities Management Service provider with 26,000 employees worldwide. Prior, she was ADEN Services CEO China for 5 years. Bruce leads The Resilience Institute in Shanghai overseeing the development of our training programs in Greater China. He has over twenty-five years of training, executive coaching, investment, banking and business management experience in the Americas and Asia, where he has lived since 2005. He has led the establishment of new offices, as well as managed acquisitions, Sino-foreign joint-ventures and restructurings.

Bruce holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of California Berkeley. Bruce grew up in northern California, is an active triathlete and a vegetarian. Since 2008 she is also a board member at the German Chamber Shanghai and its charity activities, such as the ‘More than a Market’ Initiative, working with German companies’ social engagement in China. Since 2017 she serves as a board member of the European Chamber of Commerce China in Shanghai. Prior to that she held management positions in Germany at Oliver Wyman and Constantia Packaging as well as Steinbeis Packaging.
