AmCham Shanghai's Supply Chain Committee invites you to our 2024 kick-off event about Supply Chain Sustainability on Thursday, January 25, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., in the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room. The event will be followed by a casual happy hour for supply chain professionals at Tomatito.


The event will start with a regular monthly market update by Jarrod Ward,Chair of the Supply Chain Commitee.


Then we will have two experts to address the following topics:


Introducing the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive: A Game Changer for the Global Supply Chain by Ekaterina Burova, Senior Consultant at S.J. Grand Financial & Tax Advisory. This presentation will explore the changing landscape of EU sustainability regulations and their effect on global supply chains.


Impact of ESG on Supply Chains: Current State and Impact by Dr. Martin Lockstrom, Executive Director of International Institute of Operations Management. This presentation will explore how new mandatory ESG disclosure regulations, such as the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and California's climate disclosure bills, are compelling companies to adopt more transparent and sustainable practices. The presentation will also discuss the influence of consumer and investor expectations on corporate ESG goals, highlighting the shift towards ethical sourcing and reduced environmental impact in supply chains. Furthermore, it will examine the adoption of green technologies and responsible sourcing as strategies to enhance sustainability and competitiveness.

*Happy hour will take place at Tomatito, which is in the same building as the AmCham office. The ticket price is RMB 60 per person, including two drinks. Each attendee will pay themselves at the door.

    An experienced industry professional with over 22 years working in the logistics and supply chain solution industry. Jarrod is currently the Chief Business Development Officer for East Asia at Yusen Logistics, a member of the NYK Group. He is also responsible for their Supply Chain Solutions division in East Asia.

    Jarrod has held senior leadership positions in Japan, Singapore, and the USA, including over 16 years at NYK Line container division.

    Jarrod received his MBA in Supply Chain Logistics from Rutgers University in 2007.

    Jarrod graduated from Washington & Jefferson college, and has his roots in western Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lockstrom received his BSc/MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management at Chalmers University of Technology and his PhD in Operations Management from European Business School, Germany. He has previously taught graduate courses at European Business School, Moscow State University and Tongji University and taught MBA courses at CEIBS and Webster University, among others.
