Reception for the U.S.-China Commercial Issues Working Group

AmCham Shanghai, in partnership with USCBC, AmCham China and our Chinese counterparts, will co-host a reception for the upcoming CIWG meeting. This event will offer a unique opportunity for our members to engage with representatives from both sides.

BACKGROUND

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC) held the inaugural meeting of the Commercial Issues Working Group (CIWG), led by US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago and China International Trade Representative (full minister rank), and Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen.

The two sides exchanged views on a range of actionable issues that have been raised by the business communities of both countries.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to meet again in China later this year.
