Jeffrey S. Lehman is the founding vice-chancellor of NYU Shanghai, the first “Sino-American joint university.” He previously served as the founding dean of the Peking University School of Transnational Law, as well as president of Cornell University and dean of the University of Michigan Law School. Jeffrey was also a tenured professor of law and public policy at the University of Michigan, a practicing lawyer in Washington, D.C., and a law clerk to Chief Judge Frank Coffin of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and to Associate Justice John Paul Stevens of the US Supreme Court.

Jeffrey has served on the boards of many global organizations that share his commitments in the fields of higher education, law, and technology. In the business world, he has served as an independent director on the boards of Infosys, Ltd., and Starr Property & Casualty Insurance (China) Co., Ltd. In the non-profit world, he has served as board chair of Internet 2, as president of the American Law Deans Association, and as a trustee of both Access Health International and the Skadden Fellowship Foundation. In the world of government service, he has served as a member of the US delegation to the China-US Legal Experts Dialogue and as a member of the Planning Committee for President Clinton’s 1999 “Call to Action” to the legal profession. His honors include the Friendship Award from the People’s Republic of China, the Gold Magnolia Award from the City of Shanghai, and the National Equal Justice Award from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. In 2018, China named him one of the 40 most influential foreign experts during the country’s 40-year period of reform and opening up.

Chao “Phoebe” You has nine years of management and operational experience at The Ohio State University’s first overseas office in Shanghai. As the founder of the office, Ms. You focuses on developing Ohio State’s alumni network in the Greater China area, liaising the university with the Chinese higher education institutes, exploring the market for various healthcare and educational training program as well as providing assistance for faculty research, student recruitment, and student career services.
As an active international higher education advocate, Ms. You co-founded American Universities' China Association in 2014, which aims at developing a professional platform to connect educators working for US institutions in China. Ms. You is frequently consulted by US higher education administrators about establishing China operations and strategies to enter the China market.
Ms. You’s previous experiences include co-op experience in top 150 largest law firm Schottenstein Zox & Dunn and legal research experience with renowned professor from Moritz College of Law. She has a LLM from Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University and a LLB degree from East China University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Raphael X. Moffett joined Duke Kunshan University on September 3, 2019 as the Dean of Student Affairs. In this role, he will work to create activities, programs and policies in Athletics, Campus Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Housing and Residence Life, International Student Services, Student Activities, and Student Conduct.
A native of Washington State, Dr. Raphael X. Moffett began his career in student affairs at Clark Atlanta University in 2002. He was inspired by working with college students and made the decision to pursue a career in student affairs. Prior to joining DKU, Dr. Moffett served as the Vice President for Student Services at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and Vice President for Student Affairs at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. He brings more than 17 years of professional experience in progressive leadership roles at Trinity University, Morehouse College, Georgia State University, and Clark Atlanta University.
Dr. Moffett is a visionary that is committed to providing students with transformative co-curricular learning experiences that allow them to grow socially, physically, intellectually, culturally, educationally, and professionally. He focuses on cultivating unique developmental opportunities with the intent to help students maximize their potential. He is known in the field as being a servant leader who is personable and goal oriented. His philosophy is that every student has the ability to achieve academic success and personal growth with the proper guidance and support.
Dr. Moffett received his Bachelor’s degree in English from Washington State University. He earned his Master’s degree and doctorate in Educational Leadership from Clark Atlanta University. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with wife and son, visiting relatives, reading, watching and playing basketball, calligraphy, music production, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
