Kent D. Kedl is a Partner and head of Control Risks’ Greater China and North Asia practice. He is responsible for all of Control Risks’ work across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, the Koreas and Mongolia. Kent has been living and working in China for more than 35 years.
Kent has consulted with multinational and Asia-based corporations on a range of risk and strategy issues, such as M&A and organic growth strategy, crisis management, compliance, and strategic and organizational development programs.
Before joining Control Risks, Kent was a partner of Technomic Asia, a market strategy and M&A consulting firm.
Kent has worked as a journalist and is a frequent contributor to Asia-based media outlets. Kent has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in East Asian studies from the University of Minnesota. He also completed graduate studies in journalism and mass communication at the China Times Centre for Mass Media and Social Studies.
St. John provides counsel to Chinese and foreign companies on matters related to public affairs, issue and crisis management, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, antitrust, and long-term corporate reputation management.
He works closely with clients managing risk associated with their operations in China.
He has been based in Beijing since 1999 and through that time has worked with a wide variety of foreign companies operating in China and Chinese companies building global operations.
St. John joined Brunswick in 2008 following seven years at APCO Worldwide in Beijing where he advised foreign multinationals on investment, public affairs, government engagement, and corporate communications issues across China.
St. John is Chairman Emeritus of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and served as Chairman of the Chamber from 2019 to 2021. He continues to sit on the Executive Committee and be actively engaged in cross border matters.
Qiao Yide is Vice Chairman & Secretary General of Shanghai Development Research Foundation (SDRF). Mr. Qiao was enrolled into Kennedy School of Government at Harvard in 1985. After graduation, he entered Harvard Institute for International Development and did research work. Since 2005, he has held the position, responsible for the daily work so far. Prior to study in the States, he conducted research at Institute of World Economy, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences as its Assistant Director.
Jing Wang was appointed GM China vice president, Public Policy and Government Affairs, effective April 19, 2021. He is based in Beijing.
Jing previously served as the head of Government and Regulatory Affairs for Greater China at IBM China. He earlier held various leadership roles in government affairs and marketing at Intel, the TD-SCDMA Forum and Nortel. Jing also taught at the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
Jing holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Peking University, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Ph.D. in computational and applied mathematics from Southern Methodist University.
Jamie Shen is VP Government Affairs, Greater China at Marriott International, a global hotel management group operating over 500 properties under 23 leading brands in China. Having worked both in the public and private sectors on some of the most prominent issues and projects for over two decades, she brings a wealth of experience in government affairs including stakeholder engagement, crisis management, advocacy campaign and strategic council. Jamie graduated from the Shanghai International Studies University in 2000 with Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
Justin Zhao, joined Johnson Johnson in February 2023 as the Vice President of Government Affairs of Johnson Johnson China, responsible for landing the GA&P strategy in China, leading the company’s policy advocacy and government engagement for shaping the regulatory environment and driving business growth.
Justin brings extensive experience to his current role from his past public and diplomatic services, and over 18 years services at leading U.S. technology companies, including HP and most recently, Microsoft. Justin was Microsoft’s GA lead for China and worked for the company for 12 years, including 6 years at its global headquarters in Redmond. Prior to Microsoft, Justin had served as Government Affairs Director of China HP (2007 2011), Vice President of Swiss Reinsurance Beijing Office (2005 2007), and Policy Director of the United States Information Technology Office (2004 2005). Before joining the private sector,
Justin had worked for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for 9 years, including 4 years at the Chinese Embassy in the United States.
Justin received his Master of International Business from the University of Sydney and Bachelor of Economics from the University of International Business and Economics.
