Eric Zheng became the President of AmCham Shanghai in 2022. He has been involved in the Chamber for over 15 years as a member, committee leader, Board member, Board treasurer, Board secretary, and Board vice chair, and Board chair (2018 and 2019).

Eric brings a unique combination of private and public sector experiences to the presidency. He worked in management consulting with PwC in the U.S. and later served for the U.S. Department of Commerce as the principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. Eric had a long career with AIG in Greater China and held a series of positions that culminated in his service as CEO of AIG China. He then chaired the board of Heng An Standard Life Insurance Company.

In volunteer roles, Eric serves as the Greater China regional chair of the Committee of 100 and as a board director of Shanghai Make-A-Wish Charity Foundation. The Shanghai municipal government has granted Eric its Magnolia Gold Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the city. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Fudan University and an MBA from Georgetown University.

Jeffrey Lehman is the Vice Chancellor of NYU Shanghai, where he oversees all academic and administrative operations. Lehman is an internationally acclaimed leader in higher education, having served as dean of the University of Michigan Law School, the 11th president of Cornell University, and the founding dean of the Peking University School of Transnational Law.

Prior to joining the University of Michigan Law School, Lehman served as a law clerk to Frank M. Coffin, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Associate Justice John Paul Stevens of the United States Supreme Court. He then spent four years at Caplin & Drysdale, a Washington, DC law firm. Throughout his professional and academic career, Lehman has volunteered his time and energy to nonprofit organizations that share his commitments in the fields of higher education, law, and technology.

Lehman received an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Cornell University, an MPP from the University of Michigan, and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a multi-award winner for his work both in the United States and abroad, including the Friendship Award, which is China’s highest honor for “foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country’s economic and social progress.” Lehman is also a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Peking University.

James McGregor is chairman of APCO Worldwide’s greater China region and author of two highly regarded books: No Ancient Wisdom, No Followers: The Challenges of Chinese Authoritarian Capitalism, and One Billion Customers: Lessons from the Front Lines of Doing Business in China. He also wrote the noted APCO monograph China’s Drive for Indigenous Innovation—A Web of Industrial Policies.

Prior to joining APCO, Mr. McGregor was the founder and CEO of a China-focused consulting and research firm for hedge funds, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and a chief executive of Dow Jones & Company in China. Mr. McGregor is also a former chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, and has long served as a leader of AmCham’s U.S, government relations. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the International Council of Asia Society and a board member of the U.S.-China Education Trust.

Kenneth Jarrett (Senior Advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group)

Kenneth Jarrett is a Senior Advisor at ASG, where he draws on decades of business and diplomatic experience in China and across East Asia to provide perspective and advice to businesses, investors, and other organizations with interest in the region.

Most recently, Mr. Jarrett spent five years as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. Under his leadership, the Chamber helped hundreds of companies establish and grow their networks in China and navigate operational and regulatory challenges.

Previously, Mr. Jarrett was a distinguished diplomat whose positions included service as Consul General in Shanghai, and as Deputy Consul General in Hong Kong. His 26-year foreign service career also included postings in Beijing, Chengdu, and Singapore. His government roles in Washington, D.C, included serving as Director of Asian Affairs at the White House National Security Council. Following his government service, Mr. Jarrett served as Chairman of Greater China for APCO Worldwide.

Mr. Jarrett is a frequent commentator on the business environment in China, and he has been quoted in outlets including Bloomberg, the Economist, the Financial Times, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, among others.

He is the recipient of the Magnolia Award (Silver) from the Shanghai government and is a member of the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations.

Mr. Jarrett earned an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University and an M.A. in National Security Studies from the National War College. He received a B.A. in History from Cornell University. He speaks Mandarin Chinese.

Lola Woetzel is a Senior Partner Emerita as of May 15, 2024 at the McKinsey Global Institute [MGI] where she leads MGI research on productivity, urbanization, infrastructure, inequality and regional economies. As an expert on energy, sustainability, and economic master planning, Lola has advised national and local governments in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas on topics including improving the foreign investment environment, energy policy, and economic development. Based in China since 1986, she has conducted more than 60 projects for local governments throughout China to support economic development and transformation. Lola works in the private sector as well, serving clients most often on topics related to corporate strategy, operations, and organization. She has extensive experience in real estate, particularly affordable housing and commercial revitalization, and has advised on sustainable energy investment strategies among other topics.

Dr. Woetzel holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and actively participates in international forums including the World Economic Forum and the Bloomberg New Economy Forum. She is a recipient of the Silver Magnolia Award from the Shanghai City Government and of Consulting Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Consultants award. She has guest lectured at Peking University’s Guanghua School of Business, Tsinghua University’s Schwarzman College, and the China-Europe International Business School since 2008. She is a member of the Board of Project Drawdown and of Delterra, and an Advisor to the Tianjin Juilliard School. She is fluent in Mandarin, Spanish and German and has written five books on China including Capitalist China: Strategies for a Revolutionized Economy; Operation China; 1 Hour China and No Ordinary Disruption.

Henry Ding is Global Senior Vice President of 3M and President of 3M China. In this role, Henry is responsible for the leadership and management of 3M’s largest business group – Safety & Industrial Business Group in Greater China Area. He also expands his responsibilities to include the leadership of 3M China, responsible for Corporate Affairs and Enterprise Governance, working to enhance 3M’s overall brand and reputation while driving the Safety and Industrial business growth in Greater China Area.

Henry joined 3M China in 1993. In 2003, he is appointed as Manager of Electronic and Electrical Markets Group. Since then, Henry assumed increasing leadership responsibilities in leading business teams across diverse markets. He served as Director of Electronics and Energy Business Group, Greater China Area in 2010 and as Director of Industrial and Transportation Business Group, 3M China and 3M Hong Kong in 2014. In 2017, Henry took the post of International Business Director of Industrial Adhesive and Tapes Division and relocated to 3M U.S. headquarters. And most recently Henry was moved to Singapore in 2020, served as Vice President of Industrial Adhesive and Tapes Division, 3M Asia. In December 2021, Henry was appointed Global Senior Vice President of 3M and President of 3M China, and is now based in Shanghai, China.

Henry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Polymer Chemistry from the Shanghai School of Technology as well as an Executive Business Management Diploma from the China European International Business School (CEIBS).

She also serves as a non-executive director on the board of Oterra, a world leader in natural food colors headquartered in Denmark and is an advisor to EQT Group in Sweden.

Xiangwei holds a rich career of 30+ years spanning Pharma, Beauty, Personal Care, Food, and Nutraceutical industries at multinational companies, including 20+ years in Switzerland, China, and America for Roche and DSM before joining Aptar in 2018. Xiangwei is recognized as a visionary and dynamic leader, who prides herself in her ability to think and act cross-culturally and to find win-win solutions in even the most difficult situations.

Xiangwei is passionate about the development and advancement of women, young professionals, and youths in less economically developed areas. She is a senior advisor to sHero China and serves on the Board of Governors of Shanghai YZL Philanthropy Fund.

Xiangwei is a frequent speaker and panelist on topics such as Doing Business in China and US-China Business Relationships.

In December 2023, Xiangwei was interviewed at Aptar’s Suzhou facility, alongside US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns, by CBS correspondent Lesley Stahl in her segment An American in China featuring Ambassador Burns. In the interview, Xiangwei spoke about her long term optimism on China’s economic development, especially in the healthcare and consumer goods sectors. The story was aired on CBS Sunday program 60 Minutes on February 25, 2024.

Dr. Yang is the President of China and Asia Pacific of Aptiv. He is directly responsible for all business unit operations in China and Asia Pacific, works alongside the senior executive team globally on cross-regional initiatives, and leads the stewardship of Aptiv’s relationships with government and senior customer contacts.

Aptiv started operations in China since 1993, and has established 21 manufacturing facilities and 7 technical centers across China, with nearly 40,000 employees. Annual sales revenue in China exceeded US$4 billion in 2023.

Dr. Yang started his career with General Motors in Warren, Ohio in 1995 and relocated to China in 2003 to start-up connection systems operations in Asia. In 2008, he was appointed Managing Director for Delphi Connection Systems in Asia, driving substantial business growth from 2004 to 2021 and playing a key role in multiple acquisitions with highly successful integration. In 2014, Simon was appointed Delphi China President, directing the overall business in China. In December 2017, with the successful completion of Powertrain Division spin-off, Delphi officially became Aptiv. Simon became the president of Aptiv Asia Pacific in January 2018, ensuring the development and implementation of business strategies, sourcing strategies, customer value propositions and product solutions can meet the unique customer needs and speed of the local market.
Mr. Yang earned his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Master of Material Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in China. He received his Master and Ph.D. of Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Simon also completed the Senior Executive Program of Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He has published 11 research papers in several USA and European science and technology journals.

Nan Li is the Associate Professor of Finance at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Before that , she was with Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), as an Associate Professor in Finance from 2014.

She is the Vice Director of SJTU Securities Research Investment Institute and an affiliated researcher in China Banking Industry at the SJTU Institute of Industry Research. After receiving her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2005, she started her academic career in the Department of Finance, NUS Business School at the National University of Singapore. She was an affiliated researcher at the Risk Management Institute and the Institute of Real Estate Studies in NUS.

Nan Li's research field is financial economics and financial econometrics, focusing on macro asset pricing. Her current works include pricing intangible capital and robust decision-making under ambiguity in the financial market. Her work with Lars Peter Hansen and John C. Heaton on Consumption Strikes Back? Measuring Long-Run Risk was published in the Journal of Political Economy in 2008. In addition, her articles and opinions on Digital RMB, Ant IPO Suspension, Default of Evergrande, Delist of Didi, and other timely topics in the financial market and financial regulations in China appeared on Nikkei Asia, Reuters, SupChina, FT Chinese, Xinhua net, the Paper, and other news media in English and Chinese.

Nan Li teaches Asset Allocation and Risk Management in the MBA program, Introduction to Fintech, and all-in-English courses on Bank Management, Introduction to China Banking Industry, and Time Series Analysis in Macroeconomics and Finance to undergraduate and Ph.D. students. Her courses are open globally via online learning platforms such as iCourse, Global Hybrid Classroom Program of Global MOOC Alliance, APRU Virtual Student Exchange Program, and Jiao·Tong Global Virtual Classroom.

Xin Li received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005 from Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, and his MS and BS degrees in Electronics Engineering from Fudan University, Shanghai, China in 2001 and 1998, respectively.

Xin is currently a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, Durham, NC, and serves as the Associate Vice- Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Research at Duke Kunshan University, China. He serves as the chief scientist for Convertlab, a start-up company providing the native marketing cloud in China. Starting from 2023, he serves as an Independent Board Member for Foxconn Industrial Internet in Shenzhen, China. From 2007 to 2016, he was an assistant/associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.

In 2005, Xin co-founded Xigmix Inc. to commercialize his PhD research, and served as the chief technical officer until the company was acquired by Extreme DA in 2007. In 2011, Extreme DA was further acquired by Synopsis. From 2009 to 2012, he was the assistant director for FCRP Focus Research Center for Circuit & System Solutions (C2S2). From 2014 to 2015, he was the assistant director for the Center for Silicon System Implementation (CSSI). His research interests include algorithms, methodologies, and systems for data analysis of emerging applications such as smart manufacturing, digital marketing, and financial technologies.

Xin is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He was the deputy editor-in-chief of IEEE Trans. on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems (TCAD). He was an associate editor of TCAD, IEEE Trans. on Biomedical Engineering (TBME), ACM Trans. on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES), IEEE Design & Test (D&T) and IET Cyber-Physical Systems: Theory & Applications (CPS). He received the NSF CAREER Award in 2012 and six Best Paper Awards from IEEE TCAD, DAC, ICCAD and ISIC.

Chu is an American pianist, vocal coach, and artistic consultant. She joined The Tianjin Juilliard School administration in 2020 and served as chair of collaborative piano; interim Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs; and resident faculty for collaborative piano in vocal repertoire.

After working as an assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera from 1996 to 2006, she took on the role of musical assistant to Seiji Ozawa and chorus master for the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan. She served as head of musical preparation at the Teatro Municipal de la Opera in Santiago, Chile, and was coach, répétiteur, and assistant conductor for the Salzburg Festival, the Spoleto Festival, Buenos Aires Lirica, and the Philharmonia of Taiwan.

As East Asia came to embrace classical music, Chu pioneered and established an international standard and culture in coaching and musical preparation in China. As Director of Music Administration at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing, she oversaw all musical activities for the opera productions, recruited international guest coaches, music staff, and singers’ corps, and was a consultant for artistic planning and casting. Chu went on to become the founding Executive Director for the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. She serves as the Music Director at the iSING International Young Artists Festival in China and New York.

Chu taught at the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, the Renata Scotto Opera Academy, the Juilliard Opera Centre, and lectured at Yale University. She gave master classes at the North Carolina School of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts, Tokyo Music College, Shanghai Conservatory, and Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Chu’s book, Singing in Mandarin—the first definitive text on the subject of Chinese lyric diction and vocal literature—was published in 2020 by Rowman and Littlefield Press.

As an artistic consultant, Chu worked on the chamber opera, Poet Li Bai, for Central City Opera, Colorado, and Shanghai Opera. She was a key liaison and interpreter between the composer, BMG Ricordi and Shanghai Opera, and provided the musical preparation for the opera’s premieres in the United States, Hong Kong and Italy. She managed a scholarship program for talented Vietnamese classical musicians from 2006 to 2016. Chu served as the artistic advisor to the Louis-Vuitton-Moët-Hennessy Group in the Asia-Pacific region, for whom she oversaw their Hennessy Concert Series in Hanoi for 18 seasons, and coordinated “Save the Children” galas in Japan and Cambodia.

Born in Taiwan to Sino-Vietnamese parents, Chu is a graduate of the Metropolitan Opera Young Artist Program. She completed the Merola Opera Program and a fellowship at the Tanglewood Festival. She holds a BM from Temple University, Philadelphia, and a MM from the Manhattan School of Music.

Han Shen Lin is an Assistant Professor of Finance at NYU Shanghai. In addition, Han Shen is the China Senior Advisor to The Asia Group (TAG) drawing upon nearly 20 years of in-country experience in China’s financial markets and corporate strategy.

Prior to his current positions, Han Shen was the Deputy General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank, China, where he served as Interim Country Manager and a member of the Management Control Committee, which oversaw the bank’s China governance and risk management. Han Shen also led the China Corporate Banking business, which advised Wells Fargo MNC clients on their U.S.-China cross-border strategic financing and trade needs. Earlier bank roles included Asia Financial Institutions Payments Product Sales Manager; Senior Coverage Banker in the China Financial Institutions Group (FIG); and corporate strategic projects analyst.

Han Shen holds advanced degrees, including an MA in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, an MS in Global Finance from HKUST-NYU Stern, and an LLM in China Civil and Commercial Law from Fudan University Law School. He completed his undergraduate degree in business (BBA) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Han Shen is active in the American Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai, having served on the Board of Governors and as a former Chair of the Chamber’s Financial Services Committee. He previously served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and Peace Corps (RCPV Ukraine). Han Shen lives in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters.

He is currently the Chief Digital Officer at Sanofi Greater China, responsible for driving digital transformation of the company through the application of digital platforms, data analytics/ data science/ AI, technology, and agile ways of working.

Previously, Ted was Head of Partnerships, Asia-Pacific and the Head of Digital, China at HSBC.where he drove the digital makeover of the retail banking and wealth management group through partnerships with technology giants and the creation of new digital touchpoints, products and services. Before HSBC, he was the CEO of Zoodles, an award-winning mobile app startup personalizing kids’ education through AI/machine learning. He started his career in the media industry, spanning from strategic planning at Disney to Senior Vice President for Warner TV Asia (part of Time Warner) and then to Head of Asia at BBC.

Mr. Lai earned his MBA degree at Harvard Business School and MS Engineering-Economics and BS Electrical Engineering degrees at Stanford University.

Chris Tao has been with Microsoft for 17 years, with rich field enterprise solution consulting and sales experiences across China, US and Canada market. Before relocating to Microsoft GCR region in 2019, Chris Tao was Client Tech Strategy Lead covering US PacWest High-Tech and Retail industry to drive cloud strategy and adoption landing with Top 10 Fortune 500 accounts. Before US, Chris was the Client Strategist Lead covering Western Canada Enterprise market to drive cloud and digital transformation. Chris also has rich experiences in China market, where he covered East China region MNC, Government, Auto, Retail industry solution sales and consulting business for 8 years. Chris was part for various Microsoft product R&D and field consulting teams including Office 2007, Dynamics CRM, Speech Server, SQL Server etc. where he gained rich technical background and experiences.

Besides Microsoft, Chris is also teaching DevOps course at University of British Columbia, also served as part-time coach in startup incubators.
