Join AmCham Shanghai's Supply Chain Committee on Friday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for a discussion with special guest speaker Dr. Paul G. Clifford, author of China's Logistics: From Laggard to Innovator, at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.


During the event, Mr. Clifford will share key insights from his book, analyzing the policies, infrastructure projects, technologies, and companies that have transformed China's domestic logistics capabilities and enabled it to become deeply intertwined with the worldwide supply chain. Though still lagging behind global logistics leaders overall, China has invested heavily in logistics infrastructure and technology to become a vital link in global supply chains and is forging ahead in e-commerce logistics.

    Dr. Paul G. Clifford is External Associate, Lau China Institute, King’s College London and Honorary Fellow, Foreign Policy Association. He is also President, Paul G. Clifford & Associates.

    His most recent book is China’s Logistics. From Laggard to Innovator. A Chinese language edition has also just been published. His other works include The China Paradox, covering 40 years of economic reforms.

    He first lived in China 1973-74 as an exchange student. He later worked in China as a corporate banker, in strategy consulting, and with Cisco Systems where he drove strategy on smart and connected cities. He has advised Chinese state-owned and private enterprises as well as multinational firms in China across a wide range of sectors including logistics. He was elected as Executive Director of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

    He was educated at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where he received a Ph.D., and at Peking University. He is fluent in Chinese.
