Collaboration in higher education between Chinese and foreign universities has thrived for more than 30 years. From the 1980's, joint education institutes and programs have developed under the encouragement by the government. From 2003, a significant change in regulations has allowed the establishment of Sino-foreign joint venture universities. Different from previous cooperation efforts, these JVs do not simply pair universities for a specific program. Instead, parent universities establish a new institution as a separate legal entity under Chinese law.
Please join us on 14 January, from 15:00 โ 17:00, as The AmCham Shanghai Education Committee and The British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai invite you to a discussion with the chancellors of two of China's leading institutions in this category. Jeffrey Lehman, Chancellor of New York University Shanghai and Denis Simon, Vice Chancellor of Duke Kunshan University, will share their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities they see beyond their own institutions โ in the broader sector, whether in government relations, student recruitment or curriculum โ as well as their views on academic development in China overall.
