According to the report, women make up just under 36 percent of all attorneys, only 24 percent of all partners.


In this session, Janet will share with you how she entered into legal profession along a very unusual route, the difficulties and challenges making herself a female partner at a competitive and often male dominant legal profession, what she gained from fantastic gap years in Europe and Australian, how she managed to strike a balance between extremely demanding work and her family life, how she motivate myself to continuously standing at the forefront of the legal practice.

    Areas of Practice Ms. Gu Jieyu specializes in banking and finance. Ms. Gu has been providing a full range of financial and banking services with rich experience for many years. She commits to deliver professional advices to clients in complex and significant cross-border investment and financing, project financing, real estate financing, M&A financing, structured financing, trade and warehousing financing among other areas. Ms. Gu also has rich expertise in entity establishment, mergers and acquisitions, investment, restructuring, compliance and crisis management of financial institutions, the design of all types of financial products, cross-border RMB & foreign exchange issues, debt capital market and NPL related transactions. She keeps a wide range of clients, covering various kinds of domestic and foreign commercial banks, investment banks, asset management companies, trust companies, futures companies, payment agencies, finance leasing companies and small loan companies etc. Ms. Gu participated in the compilation of The International Comparative Legal Guide To: Lending & Secured Finance 2016/2017, PRC section. Work Experience Ms. Gu joined King & Wood in 2007. Prior to joining King & Wood, she worked in a well-known law firm in Shanghai. Ms. Gu graduated from law school at Nanjing Normal University and received a master degree at The Hague Academy of Social Sciences. She also participated the master course from law school at Nanjing University. From 2006 to 2007, Ms. Gu participated in Chinese youth lawyer training course (LCTS) jointly held by Chinese and British Ministry of Justice. She was qualified to practice law in 2004. Her working languages are Chinese and English.
