The AmCham Shanghai China Business Climate Survey is one of the longest running surveys of U.S. business in China. This year, 333 companies shared their views and insights on a wide range of topics, including company performance, challenges and investment, trade policy, tariffs, headcount, competition from domestic firms and the China International Import Expo (CIIE).


AmCham Shanghai cordially invites you to the release of the 2019 China Business Report on Wednesday, Oct 16, from 13:00 - 14:30 . This afternoon session is a rare opportunity to learn what your industry peers think about the operating environment in China. Speakers will offer their interpretation of the data, as well as opinions on the opportunities offered by trends such as growing consumption in China.

    GR & CSR Director of The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai

    Veomayoury Baccam is the Director of Government Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, known as the "Voice of American Business" in China, was founded in 1915. AmCham Shanghai was the third American Chamber established outside the United States, and now has 3,000 members from 1,500 companies. As a non-profit, non-partisan business organization, AmCham Shanghai is committed to the principles of free trade, open markets, private enterprise and the unrestricted flow of information. She is responsible for coordinating the Chamber’s advocacy efforts with the U.S. Government and Chinese government and its Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Prior to joining AmCham, Ms. Baccam worked for 12 years in the U.S. diplomatic service. Her previous postings include Moscow, Geneva, Washington D.C., and Shanghai. She received her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and a Masters of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University.

    Ian Driscoll is the Communications and Publications Director at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai). Previously, Ian worked as a freelance journalist and as a reporter at Reuters in New York. His writing appeared in the Financial Times, Asia Money and several other newspapers and magazines. Born in Singapore, Ian has worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney. His background includes a master’s degree in international affairs with a concentration in East Asian studies.
