The discussion is brought to you by the Chamber's newly-formed Ethics & Compliance Committee, with opening remarks from Committee Chair Dr. Tim Klatte on 2020's evolving compliance landscape. The panel will be an opportunity to learn practical insights from senior compliance experts on how to manage a focused compliance program in China.

Introducing Candidates for the 2021 Board of Governors

The Chamber's Nomination and Election Committee (NEC) is pleased to announce the list of candidates approved to run for election to the 2021 AmCham Shanghai Board of Governors. There will be five vacant positions on the Board and the NEC has approved a slate of ten candidates. Governors serve a two-year term and are limited to two consecutive terms.


Voting for the 2021 Board of Governors begins Monday, November 9, and the results will be announced at our annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 25.

    Art is a Director at R&P with over 13 years’ experience in China. Art began his legal career at the New York law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel working on private equity deals. He has since been located in China since 2007 when he moved to the Beijing office of Morrison & Foerster, an international law firm with headquarters in San Francisco, to work predominantly on China and US venture capital financings and cross- border M&A. He has also advised many US technology, manufacturing, and consumer companies on structuring their investments and operations in China.
    In 2011, Art joined Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ: CDNS) to lead its Asia Pacific legal department. He was co-chair of the American Chamber of Commerce Legal Committee in Shanghai. He is a frequent speaker in English and Chinese on cross-border investing at top tier Chinese universities and industry conferences, and has been an active angel investor and mentor at Chinaccelerator for many years.
    Art got his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, his JD from George Washington University, and his MBA from the University of Southern California (USC). He is fluent in written and spoken Chinese.

    As President, PMC APAC, of global manufacturing company Rexnord, based in Shanghai, Randall Hoeflein has lived in China for more than 8 years and has learned to adapt and become a bridge between cultures. Having worked in numerous countries throughout his career, including the US and across Europe, the adjustment has been years in the making. “While in Europe, I was already learning to become a lot less American and understand the different ways that sections of the continent work,” he reflects. “Now I’ve also had to learn to understand Chinese culture. I’ve spent a lot of time being that bridge between East and West.”
    Randall received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Old Dominion University and master's degree in Business Administration from University of New Haven.
    As a global company, Rexnord pays great attention to compliance and will arrange all the employees all over the world to join compliance training every year. As the APAC President, Randall has a strong focus and commitment to compliance.
