AmCham Shanghai's June Monthly Member Briefing turns a spotlight on three of our key industry committees with a panel discussion featuring the leaders of the Food and Beverage, Auto, and Healthcare committees. Bill Russo (Auto Committee Chair), Norman Gu (F&B Committee Co-Chair) and Anita Wei (Healthcare Committee Chair) will provide an update on their industries and prognosis for American companies in China as the world begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. This member briefing will take place on June 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Andaz Xintiandi, Shanghai. A cocktail reception will follow the panel discussion.


An information booth for voter registration help for US citizens abroad will be available on-site during the Monthly Member Briefings leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

    Norman Gu

    General Manager at Hormel

    Norman Gu has been the General Manager of Hormel (China) Investment Co., Ltd since May 2016, responsible for Hormel’s overall China strategy, business development and daily operations.

    Norman has been engaged in sales and marketing for his entire career and has rich experience in the food service business segment. Norman joined Hormel in 2003 as a Regional Sales Manager - East China. In 2006, he was relocated to Beijing Hormel and promoted as Sales Director, then back . He returned to Shanghai Hormel as Sales Director in 2008. He became Director of the Foodservice Business Unit in 2010. In 2014, he was named as VP of Sales & Marketing China and was responsible for the entire commercial operation of the company.

    Norman holds an MBA degree from Renmin University of China. He is the co-chair of AmCham Shanghai's Food, Agriculture and Beverage Committee.

    SVP, Deputy General Manager at Wells Fargo

    Han Lin is a Senior VP, and Deputy General Manager of Wells Fargo Bank in China. He began his career with Wells Fargo in 2004 in Charlotte, N.C. where he was involved in a series of strategic initiatives encompassing credit, payments, trade and acquisitions. Prior to banking, Han served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Ukraine). Han completed his undergraduate studies (BBA) at the University of Michigan-Ross Business School. He later completed an M.A. in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a law degree (LLM) in Chinese commercial law at Fudan University Law School. Han also graduated with a M.S. in Global Finance from the HKUST-NYU program where he is also a lecturer on the China financial system. Han serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce (Shanghai). He has lived in Shanghai for 14 years and is married with two daughters.

    Bill Russo is the Shanghai-based founder and CEO of Automobility Limited, a strategy and investment advisory firm helping its clients to create the future of mobility. His over 35 years of experience include 15 years as an automotive executive in China and Asia and nearly 12 years in the electronics and information technology industries. He has worked as an advisor and consultant for numerous multinational and local Chinese firms in the formulation and implementation of their global market and product strategies. Bill is also currently serving as the chair of the Automotive Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. In his current role, Bill advises startups, corporations and investors on how to maximize their participation in China’s Automobility Revolution. Bill was previously the regional head of Chrysler in North East Asia.

    Vice President of Government Affairs at Danaher China

    Anita Wei is the co-chair of AmCham Shanghai’s Healthcare Committee. She is the vice president of government affairs at Danaher China. Previously she served as the vice president of public affairs & communications at BD and was a member of the company’s Greater China Leadership Team as well as the China Operating Committee. Prior to joining BD, she was head of communications at Novartis Pharma Greater China, reporting to the chairman. She is based in Shanghai.
