China watchers are closely following how the country will regulate personal data in 2019. Until recently, this policy framework remained fragmented across a series of laws, standards, and sector-specific regulations. No longer. China is now in the midst of building one of the world's most comprehensive personal data regulatory regimes.

On January 15, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, AmCham Shanghai's Government Policy Support (GPS) series will host a roundtable discussion by Control Risks Director James Fitzsimmons and Associate Director Carly Ramsay, in which they will give an overview of personal data developments, including regulations and their enforcement. They will discuss key risk areas and sectors, particularly for companies that manage large amounts of personal information, and how to manage these risks, including identifying your regulated information, and establishing governance and controls.
