AmCham Shanghai invites you to a special guided museum tour of the exhibition "Junya Ishigami: Freeing Architecture" at the Power Station of Art on Sep 20, from 4:30pm-7pm.
Junya Ishigami was born in 1974 and graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music with a M.F.A. in architecture in 2000. Ishigami inherits the delicate, light and natural features of Modernist architecture in Japan. He explores the relationship between landscape and nature, the transparency and ambiguity of space, at the same time, emphasizes the topic of locality of architecture and globalization. In 2008 & 2010 he represented Japan for the International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale and won the Golden Lion for the best project for "Architecture as Air: Study for Chateau la Coste" in 2010.
This exhibition is the first solo exhibition of the architect in China and Junya Ishigami redesigned the exhibition for better integration into the PSA space. Please find more about the exhibition HERE.
The event is organized by AmCham Shanghai's Art & Culture Committee that AmCham will launch very soon. The tour will be guided by Juju Wang, a Chinese-American installation artist known for her mixing of Chinese culture and traditions with contemporary techniques and bold usage of new materials.
