Aaron Chowning is a spirited educator that seeks to push teachers and students alike to be the best versions of themselves each and every day. Paul Farrell is the Principal of Britannica International School, Shanghai, after joining the school as Vice-Principal and Head of Secondary in 2018.

While at university he read Physics, Mathematics, and Education. Paul taught the British Curriculum for many years in highly successful UK schools as Head of Science and Director of Studies before moving into the international sphere. Paul spent his formative years in international education with a position at the British School of Bucharest, where he worked for five years in the role of Head of Sixth Form and had the pleasure of guiding students to gain access to the best universities across the world.

Dr. Liz Gale is the Deputy Director of Schools for Shanghai Community International School (SCIS) and the Head of School for the SCIS-Pudong Campus. Prior to her current position, Liz served as the Lower School Principal for SCIS-Pudong. She also has experience as an Elementary Assistant Principal, PYP Coordinator, and Elementary classroom teacher. Liz is a member of the Advisory Board for Teacher Horizons and has presented at various conferences on women in leadership, as well as other topics primarily related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She is the founder of #RaiseHerUp Shanghai, a networking event targeted at providing educators in Shanghai with an opportunity to expand their personal and professional support network. As a leader in education, Liz strives for excellence, values diversity of thought and is constantly looking for innovative and creative ways to build capacity and push boundaries within education. Liz strongly believes that every student is capable of learning and thus, deserves the right to develop his/her highest potential in a safe, nurturing, and happy environment, an environment that respects and values the capabilities of all individuals.

Ms. Renee Gian has been an educator for nearly 20 years, teaching a variety of subjects throughout her career before becoming the Admissions Director of a large international school in Cairo. Originally from Buffalo, NY; Renee earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College and her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Renee began her career in international education in Alexandria, Egypt, and then moved to Cairo where she spent 18 years before moving to Shanghai with her son. Christophe Henry joined SAS from Jakarta Intercultural School where he served as the Middle School Principal for ten years. Prior to Jakarta Intercultural School, Christophe was a leader of the Anglo-American School of Moscow, and has also previously served as a teacher of French Immersion and Social Studies. All in all, he brings with him over 25 years of experience in the field of education, the majority of which is anchored in an international setting. As the Head of Campus for SAS’ Puxi campus, Christophe is eager to curate a culture of care that focuses on authenticity, collaboration, and connection.

Dr Hurley is the Director of Teaching and Learning at YCIS Shanghai Puxi and YWIES Lingang. Part of the leadership team, Dr Hurley has developed the school’s approach to enhanced learning through STEM, PBL and Inquiry. He has worked as a Principal and CEO of schools in Australia and performed a number of other leadership roles across four countries in Primary, Secondary and University education, lecturing in software design and AI, business mathematics and science. Prior to this, Dr Hurley worked as CEO of a small-medium enterprise in international trade and entrepreneurship.

Dr Hurley is passionate about developing accelerated and enhanced learning approaches for deeper understanding, strong values and vision. With a background in business, biomedical engineering and nuclear medicine research, he believes in strengthening schools to focus on developing skills with a future focus, using an entrepreneurial mindset and effective learning strategies.

Having been given an exceptional multi-cultural early education, which she credits for her ability to speak four languages, Julie has dedicated her 17 years as an educator to developing nurturing, stimulating learning environments that prepare children for the global 21st-century world. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Education from PUC, Brazil, and an MBA from Hariot Watt in the UK.

Prior to returning to her true passion for early education, Julie spent 11 years in finance and marketing in the US and Brazil. Julie's business acumen and experience give her unique insights into the best ways to lead and promote learning and management in Kindergartens. Because the Schoolhouse is just the springboard to success in the world around us, Julie uses her expertise to connect with businesses, communities, and services locally, nationally, and internationally to ensure that children have all they need to get a head start as the global citizens they will become.

Julie is passionate about ensuring each child in her care the best possible head start. Her passion stems from her own experience in reading in two languages by age three and graduating from high school at fifteen. She feels that her mother; herself an educator, gave her the best gift any mother could. Curiosity and lifelong love of travel and learning which she hopes to impart to her students.

Coach Daryl Louis is the Head Debating Coach at Red Arc Education Group – he has been working across the Greater China area since 2013 and has been involved with competitive debating as one of the world’s most decorated speakers and adjudicators for the last 17 years. He is serving as China’s Chief Adjudicator for the national universities debating tournament
for the year 2021 and was a chief judge for All of Asia (2013), Northeast Asia (2014), and Australia (2015). Other notable accolades include having been appointed as a World Championship Finals Series adjudicator and winning the
most recent Shanghai International Debating Championship in 2019 over a competitive field including top alumnus speakers from the University of Cambridge.

Coach Daryl Louis individually holds the China middle school
parliamentary debating record for wins and finals appearances – seeing 15 teams appearing in debating tournaments across three continents in an unbroken streak during the last pre-pandemic competitive season 2018-2019. Most of his student
debaters now attend the top universities and high schools around the world including Yale, Princeton, Cambridge, Oxford, Eton College, Westminster School, Choate Rosemary Hall, and the Shanghai American School. He focuses primarily on
middle school and early high school debaters.

Anne has a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry from Michigan State University, where she also earned her science teaching certification, and a M.S. in geosciences from Mississippi State University. In addition, Anne is a National Board-Certified teacher in Adolescence and Young Adulthood science. Over the years she has taught IB biology, IB environmental systems and societies, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, ecology, and forensic science in Bulgaria, Washington State, and in the Philippines. Mrs. Love has been at Concordia International School Shanghai since 2013.

Before moving to China, Patrick worked as an ESL/English teacher at the American College of Sofia, Bulgaria, a child and family counselor in Seattle, WA, and a school counselor at Brent International School, Subic Bay, Philippines. He earned a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, and M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from City University, Bellevue. Mr. Love has been at Concordia International School Shanghai since 2013.

Mr. Stewart Paterson is from central Scotland. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Sports Studies, Professional Education, and Physical Education at the University of Stirling. Stewart started coaching sport at the age of 16 and spent many of his summer months during university coaching a variety of sports in New York. in finance and marketing to benefit students through excellent educational and career counseling as well as planning advice for
both undergraduates and graduates.

Tess sat on the Pomona College Parents Leadership Council from 2014- 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board
for Community Center Shanghai.

Pete Rogers serves as Director of Community Wellbeing for the Senior School of Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, where he works with students, faculty, and parents to cultivate emotional resiliency, leadership, and peak performance. Previously, he served in various executive leadership capacities at American universities before coming to Shanghai in the summer of 2014 as a consultant where he specialised in training individuals and teams in leadership and charisma development

Carol Santos, Head of Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan, is a devoted educator. She was the vice principal for some top independent schools in the US, including Groton School, Miss Porter’s School, and Westover School. Working for these prestigious schools has not only allowed Ms. Santos to witness many waves of talented students accomplish themselves over the years but has also further formed her understanding of elite education and increased her experience in the field.

She, herself, is also a scholar with perfect academic track records. She graduated from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Economics. Due to her passion in education, she further pursed her study at Columbia University. Now, she is a Phd candidate in the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating on the study of educational leadership.

Ms. Santos believes that elite education is to provide a sounder and more positive support system in a way that can lead our children to succeed as much as possible.

Emily Sargent-Beasley joined SAS from Israel where she was the Assistant Superintendent at the Walworth Barbour American International School. Beginning her career as a teacher and moving into administrative roles, serving as Curriculum Director, Division Director, and Assistant Superintendent, Emily has a strong understanding of what it takes to challenge ideas and unite people to do the reflective and meaningful work associated with sustainable change.

Million is Singaporean with more than two decades of education experience. She is the founder of Singapore International Centre for Early Childhood (ICEC) and Postkid.com E-learning. Million has managed educational programs at more than 400 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Singapore and China. She was also the International Principal of Wuxi International School, Cixi International Kindergarten Group-International Division, and WICC Wuxi Kindergarten.

She is currently the Managing Director of Dipont (Shanghai) Education Technology Co Ltd and the creator of EnSEEED, a blended education ecosystem that ensures success in education engagement and development for the K-5 international school scene.

Besides her passion for early-child education, she is also an award-winning musician and music producer for both Warner and Universal Music. She has composed theme songs for Singapore Media Media and Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

Million's parents, Hood Inn and Siok Cheng, are both primary school Teachers. Million has a younger sister, Trillion, a daughter, and two sons. Tansy is a lawyer in Singapore, Tiernan works at PWC and Tierney is at the University of Cambridge. All are strong swimmers, proficient in music, and have black belts in martial arts.

Million's is a firm believer in the importance of cultivating and developing all of Howard Gardner's multi-intelligences early in a child's education. She strives to help every student discover what makes them unique and special.

In 2009, Brantley joined the Dwight School international group of schools as Director of Programs - China. In 2014, Qibao High School and Dwight School New York opened IB World School Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School. Prior to joining Dwight School, Brantley had many years of experience in market research and international education in China.

Originally from New York, has lived in China for the majority of the past 20 years. She is passionate about exchange between China and the West. She is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and lives in Shanghai with her husband and three children.

Flora graduated from Fudan University and served as APAC DOSM of WMF and Luxottica and other high-end FMCG industries before she starts her role in Dehong. With 15+ years of an integrated marketing and sales background, Flora has successfully led the opening of two new schools - Dehong Beijing and Xi’an.
