AmCham Shanghai's Food, Agriculture, and Beverage Committee are pleased to invite you to "Alcohol Industry Trends & Happy Hour" on Wednesday, September 8th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center followed by a happy hour with tasting and snacks.


As alcohol consumption increases, the Chinese alcohol market reached 1,136 billion RMB by the year 2019. Currently, Baijiu accounts for most of the Chinese alcohol market size, but sales volume for beer and wine is also increasing. In this session, leaders of emerging alcohol brands like Bishan Craft Beer will share their opinions and insights on the current alcohol industry trend in China. Speakers will also discuss strategies in which companies can use to overcome challenges they face in the industry.


The event will help the audience to gain an understanding of China's current alcohol industry's development, and how firms can adjust to China's unique market.

    Marketing Director of LYRES China

    Ouyang officially joined Doehler Group as Head of Food Service Marketing & Application in 2019, He is responsible for the marketing strategy and product application solutions, and sales & marketing of the foodservice channel. Meanwhile, he is LYRES non-alcoholic spirit brand China marketing director. From 2008 to 2018, he worked for syrup leading brand MONIN, he has successively served as global beverage innovation director, brand development director, and distributor channel director. In 2017, he was awarded the "Founder Award" by the Drink Bar Awards Ceremony. Prior to MONIN, he had worked for food & beverage companies from different fields, including international hotel groups, bar, and alcohol brands. With over 20 years of working experience in beverage innovation, brand development, distribution management, brand marketing, trade marketing, product marketing, digital marketing, and business development, he’s been advocating the innovation of drinks and marketing and the integration of food and beverage. His first book, titled The Art of the Cocktail, was published in 2014 and the second book <Sip! Modern Drinks> was published in May 2020.

    Ouyang holds a Bachelor's degree in ISC Paris. He participated in the World Flair Bartending Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2001 and the rest is history: he became the first Chinese bartender to win a global flair bartending competition.

    In 2013 Alexander started eGISS’s Chinese office from the bottom and was Managing Director with an annual turnover of 25 million. In addition, he learned fluent Chinese and started a Chinese MBA at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Today Alexander runs LAIBA BEVERAGES with two business partners – A craft cocktail beverage company selling premium bottled cocktails to hotels, restaurants and online, with an aim to give people access to premium bar quality cocktails wherever the location may be.

    Founder of Bishan Village Brand

    More Ding is the Founder and CEO of Bishan Village Brand. He also owns and runs the Dog's Bistro at the Bishan Village in Anhui. He was nominated as one of the Hurun "30 under 30" in 2020.

    After he graduated high school in Shanghai, he decided to take on his parents' heritage in 2014, the renowned hostel Pig's Inn in Bishan. In 2016, he opened up Dog's Bistro as a community space for the villagers and started his micro-brewery, which developed into the Bishan Village Brand later on.

    Apart from his business, he is also an amateur artist, whose paintings have been exhibited in art galleries and biennial exhibitions.

    Loren is a serial food & beverage industry entrepreneur. He co-founded Mates International Beverages in 2020 (with, appropriately, several mates from the F&B industry) to add a new dimension to China’s nascent but quickly growing pre-mixed cocktail scene. In 2014, Loren co-founded Q Mex, an award-winning, Beijing-based Mexican restaurant, and bar chain, and in 2016 he co-founded Baozza Food & Beverage Concepts, a fusion frozen food brand with operations in China and the US.
     
    He started his career in investment banking, advising companies from 15 countries on cross-border mergers and acquisitions over 9 years while working in the US and China.
     
    Loren holds a BA from Harvard University in East Asian Studies and an MA from Johns Hopkins University in International Finance. He has lived in China for 16 years, is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and is passionate about building companies that make great food and drinks.
