AmCham Shanghai’s Education Committee invites you to join a roundtable discussion about how Chinese universities are globalizing themselves on Tuesday, April 18, from 09:00–10:30 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.

Our panelist will include: (in alphabetical order)
  • Ms. Hu Sijia, Deputy Director of Publicity and Promotion Section, 0ffice of International Affairs, Wuhan University
  • Ms. Liz Wu, Assistant Dean at the School of Economics and Management, Tongji University
  • Dr. Tian Ke, Associate Dean, Jilin University-Lambton College

These leaders of globalization for their respective institutions will share their experiences of the challenges and opportunities they’ve faced, as well as their outlooks for the future of the Chinese tertiary sector as an increasingly important and engaged aspect of global higher education.

The Education Committee aims to provide a forum for discussion on industry issues and information sharing among industry professionals. We encourage you to participate by bringing your questions, thoughts and experiences on the education sector and business climate in China to share with the group.

    Zhen Cheng

    Associate Dean of School of International Education at Wuhan University

    Dr. Zhen Cheng is the associate dean of international education of Wuhan University. He has over 20 years experience in international education exchange and foreign affairs. He has assisted many joint programs with foreign universities including Kunshan Duke University. He is currently in charge of Confucius Institute in foreign countries and the management of international students at Wuhan University.

  • Ke Tian (Associate Dean at Jilin University-Lambton College)

    Ke Tian

    Associate Dean at Jilin University-Lambton College

    As Associate Dean of Jilin University-Lambton College, Tian Ke has been in a management role as to Sino-foreign cooperation in education since 1999. Tian Ke led the coordination that helped found Lambton College under Jilin University in 1999, and founded North American College under Jiangnan University in 2001.

    Tian Ke gained a Ph.D. of Sciences from Jilin University in 1988. He received an award from the China Chemical Society recognizing his achievements in the field of chemicals in 1989, after which he went to Université Paris-Saclay to continue his post-doctoral studies the same year. Later, he transferred for his post-doctoral studies to Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières after which he received a scholarship for continued research from NSERC in 1990.

    Liz Wu

    Assistant Dean at the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University

    Liz Wu is in charge of professional degree programs (MBA, EMBA, MPA and MEM) at the School of Economics and Management (SEM), Tongji University (SEM). She is also a core member of SEM's international accreditation and quality assurance team, contributing to the school's strategic planning and top management. Liz has been engaged in management and teaching in international programs at Tongji University for ten years, building up SEM’s international network with more than 50 top overseas partners. In 2009, she initiated and became the director of the dual-degree MBA program with Manchester Business School. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics from Tongji University.
