AmCham Shanghai's Healthcare Committee invites you to a presentation on Healthcare reform in China with a focus on the “Sanming model” on Thursday, April 13 from 09:00-10:30 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room.

China’s recent healthcare reform journey has been a remarkable success story, with significant progress toward universal health coverage that many other nations are learning from. Immense challenges remain, however, not least with the quality, efficiency and affordability of hospital care – something that is a problem in many health systems in emerging economies.

Please join Jenny Yao, Partner and Head of Healthcare, KPMG who will share with us their latest research to look in depth at one of the most successful and controversial healthcare reforms currently underway in China — Sanming. It is likely that you have never heard of Sanming before. Even in China its 2.5 million people makes it a relative minnow among cities —not even in the top 100 urban areas by size. Yet its success in transforming the public hospital system has made it famous and could well become the model by which every province across China seeks to reform. Jenny’s talk will cover:
  • The background leading up to the reform
  • The reform methodology and key players
  • Steps taken and key achievements
  • What’s new and what next
  • Fujian Province Central Procurement Scheme
