AmCham Shanghai's Legal Committee is excited to host Walking the Tightrope: Navigating Current US and China Regulatory Climates. The event will be held on April 14 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. This event is now exclusively online via Zoom.

Recent escalating tensions between the US and China have boiled over into increasing regulation of businesses operating between the two countries. The various branches of the US government have issued executive orders, beefed up the roles of the State and Treasury Departments, and refocused committees (e.g., CFIUS) to address Chinese State-controlled or owned businesses operating in the US. This, in turn, has led to a wave of new laws, rules, and regulations being issued in China aimed at countering the US Government's actions.

As a result, businesses operating in the People's Republic of China are bearing the brunt of the fallout from the escalating tension between the two governments' latest regulations and many are scrambling to find ways to navigate within the legal systems of both countries or to devise alternate plans.

The Shanghai AmCham Legal Committee has put together a half-day event that will bring together legal experts who will summarize some of the key legislation and actions that both the United States and China have taken in the past 24-months and then end with a round table discussion that will cover some of the solutions they are working on with their clients.
