AmCham Shanghai's Healthcare Committee invites you to a read out of the recent Shanghai government's policy support for biomedical innovation (《关于促进本市生物医药产业高质量发展的若干意见》) and a discussion on innovation and investment trends on June 22 from 2-4 pm at the AmCham Shanghai office.Leaders from venture capital firms and healthcare innovation segments will share their perspectives on the regulatory environment, innovation ecosystem, local partnerships and investment opportunities and challenges.


生物科技和医疗产业正以蓬勃的创新能力高速发展。为促进物医药产业进一步高质量发展，上海市政府最近印发了《关于促进本市生物医药产业高质量发展的若干意见》。上海美国商会医疗委员会将于6月22日下午2点至4点举办关于生物科技和医疗产业投资和创新趋势的专题讨论会议。会议将邀请上海市经信委生物产业处朱镕副处长对生物医药产业扶持政策作深入解读，同时也将邀请来自医疗跨国企业和投资机构的领导对业内的投资趋势和创新生态进行观点和经验分享。

    Samuel Ngai, Ph.D. is the Founder and Vice President of Danaher’s China Innovation Center, where he focuses on equity investment in early stage life sciences and diagnostics companies across Greater China. Prior to Danaher, Dr. Ngai served as the Asia-Pacific Corporate Development and Integration Lead for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

    Prior to his assignments in Asia, Dr. Ngai was a M&A and venture capital (VC) professional in Silicon Valley, with experience spanning across US, Europe and Asia. Early in his career, Dr. Ngai worked as a strategy consultant in the US health care industry and as a lab researcher at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). Outside of his corporate responsibilities, Dr. Ngai is an advisor and angel investor for early stage companies.

    Dr. Ngai received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and B.S. degree from University of California at Berkeley, all in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Ngai currently serves on MIT’s Graduate Alumni Council and was the President of the MIT Club of Shanghai from 2018 to 2020.
