Through this course, you will learn how to integrate the necessary facts and data with the story structure and elements. This is one of the most effective communication tools to influence management, customers and any stakeholders. You can use stories to make them pay attention, listen, and then act.

Session Outline

What you will learn:

  1. The importance of "storytelling" in a business; its three KSF and six magical elements;
  2. The process to discover the pains and gains of your audience
  3. How to design a clear story line, using it to organize and structure the presentation for maximum clarity.
  4. Learn the story model used in 95% of all business reporting presentations, and how to use stories to talk about data and charts.
  5. Understand how stories can be used in other business scenarios, such as building your personal brand and motivating your team.
  6. Delivering skills, by presenting a story and receiving feedback in class:
  • building rapport and connect with your audience
  • using your body language and gestures authentically and not robotically;
  • modulating your voice to add drama to your story
  • interacting with the audience to add engagement and true dialogue.

The course is suitable for you if:

  1. You often need to communicate with your management/customer/external stakeholders to influence their decisions. But you tend to have difficulty in perspective-taking, not focusing the key message on their pains and gains.
  2. You tend to communicate with facts and data alone, paying little attention to arousing the emotions of your audience. As a result, results of these communications do not meet your expectations.

    Dr. Hubert Lin

    He believes that for an executive to succeed in a presentation and speech, it has to begin with a sound communication strategy. So he brings valuable business insights into your message. This is necessary to analyze the best approach to influence your audience, whether they are management, customers, or investors.

    After attaining his MBA in University of Illinois of Urbana Champaign, Hubert started management consulting experience with Accenture. In this role, he had wide exposure to different industries, functions, and global teams. In the next 12 years, he took on roles in consulting and senior management positions in managing teams and projects in the US, UK, Singapore, and China.

    Now he is in the business of developing people as a trainer, and coach in the area of communication. As a corporate trainer, his past clients include VW, Microsoft, Roche, Shell, Novo Nordisk, Swire Societe General, Loreal, etc. Hubert is a certified World Class Speaking Coach, focusing on business story-telling. In this role as a speech coach, he has provided personal coaching for CEO of ANT Financial, Motorola, Thomson Reuters, 360 Security, Amazon, Super8 Motel, Ce Yuan Ventures, Madame Tussauds and even Hollywood movie star Zhang Jingchu.

Walk-in and Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your registration for a full-day session, please notify Ivette Corominas at least two weeks prior to the session for a full refund.   • To ensure that you have a seat, please come to the session on time. Open seats will be released to other guests 15 minutes after the session starts.
*What is Training Credit?
As an extra offer to all AmCham Shanghai members, each member will be granted with ONE Training Credit with their valid membership term.
