What if you could inspire and influence others using your natural speaking style?


That just means you are 100% fully authentic and natural, and not some stiff robot trying to look like a human. After all, isn't this what authentic leadership is about? Isn't it about being yourself and not trying to become someone you're not, right?


And isn't it true there's no "best" speaking style? When we look at the best of the best, e.g., JFK, Steve Jobs, Nelson Mandela, and even Bill Gates, notice how natural, how authentic, and ultimately, how influential they were?


Bill Gates is a very interesting "case study" of a man who wasn't the best public speaker in his younger days at Microsoft. Yet he grew into an amazingly inspiring and influential speaker — while still retaining his natural and normal speaking style.


The Bill Gates example is something we can all learn from, and that's exactly what this workshop intends doing, i.e., to use your natural speaking style to influence any audience.

Session Outline

What will you learn and practice?


1.   How to create a message that flows logically and effectively, while being true to your natural speaking style,

 

2.   How to create interest, empathy, and decisiveness among the audience with just your voice, while being true to your natural speaking style,


3.   How to use very natural and comfortable body language to emphasize your point, while being true to your natural speaking style.

 

By the end of this workshop, you'll have the tools and confidence to influence your audience using your natural speaking style!

    Your workshop trainer, Jeff Tan, has spent a lifetime speaking in public in extremely formal settings, to completely informal ones. But the intention was always the same — to inspire and influence the audience.

    Since coming to China in 2006, Jeff has helped numerous industry leaders create their message of influence and then deliver it in the best way possible. He finds it fascinating working with these leaders to bring out the best in them as they’re already very good speakers!

    In addition, Jeff has guided and coached two speakers to win the Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking contest in China, making them China’s representative at the annual international contest.

  • All registrations shall be made online before the session. For full-day sessions, payment also shall be made before the session.
  • For half-day sessions, AmCham Shanghai members are eligible to attend free of charge with Training Credit*; AmCham Shanghai members without Training Credit are eligible to attend at “Member Rate”; Employees who work at AmCham Shanghai member companies are eligible to attend at "Employee Rate".
  • For full-day sessions, AmCham Shanghai members are eligible to attend at “Member Rate”; Employees who work at AmCham Shanghai member companies are eligible to attend at “Employee Rate”; Non-members are eligible to attend at “Non-Member Rate”.
  • Limited spaces are available and attendance will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Walk-in and Cancellation Policy
  • This session requires confirmation of attendance in advance. If you attend this session without prior registration, you will be charged an RMB50 "walk-in" fee as member and RMB100 as employee.
  • Cancellation: If you need to cancel your registration for a half-day session, please notify Ivette Corominas at (86 21) 6279 7119 ext. 5671 or email ivette.corominas@amcham-shanghai.org no less than 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel your registration for a full-day session, please notify Ivette Corominas at least two weeks prior to the session for a full refund. Cancellation made within two weeks before the session will not be refundable.
  • To ensure that you have a seat, please come to the session on time. Open seats will be released to other guests 15 minutes after the session starts.
*What is Training Credit?
As an extra offer to all AmCham Shanghai members, each member will be granted with ONE Training Credit with their valid membership term. Members are able to use the Training Credit to register for the training session they are interested in, free of charge. The Training Credit can only be used by the member him/herself. The Training Credit is not transferrable or refundable for cash.
