Looking for a fun Saturday morning activity? How about a game of pickleball! AmCham Shanghai Sports & Entertainment Committee is pleased to invite you to the 1st AmCham Shanghai Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, November 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shanghai American School Puxi Campus. AmCham members, their families, and non-members are all welcome!


Tournament Details:


The first hour will feature simultaneous workshops for both beginner and advanced players, followed by the tournament. Participants may register for the tournament alone or for both the workshop and tournament. Tournament events will include singles (M/F), doubles (M/F), and mixed doubles. You can choose the type of tournament you wish to join.


All teams/individual players will be randomly assigned into four teams/groups. Matches within groups will follow a round-robin format, with the top two teams/players from each group advancing to a single-elimination bracket to compete for the top spot. Lower-ranking teams/players will also be placed in a bracket for additional placement matches, ensuring that all participants play at least four matches. Matches will be set as one game of 15 or 20 minutes, depending on the number of registered teams and players. There will be awards and gifts for the winners, so come join us for a great time!


Pickleball originated in the U.S., but it has nothing to do with pickles! It's a fun blend of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, played with paddles and a lightweight ball. It's easy to learn, highly social, and a total blast. So, grab a paddle and join the fun!

Notes:


Equipment: You may bring your own pickleball paddle and ball or rent them on-site.

Age: Adults only.

Access Pass: Upon successful registration, we will contact you to obtain your ID number for campus access.

    Zarko is the Athletic Director and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Duke Kunshan University. Over the last 20 years, Zarko held variety of positions in the USA, South Korea, and South Africa, building sport performance programs, and bridging gaps between sport industry and education. Leveraging his global experience Zarko is currently overseeing the development of Athletics Program at Duke Kunshan University including building of sport facilities and ensuring programs’ strategic alignment with US and China departments of education. As such, Duke Kunshan Athletics aims to become a platform for integrating educational programs and opportunities with various sectors of sports, fitness, and wellness industry in China and abroad.
