The sports industry has seen an explosion in China due in large part to massive consumption of cultural activities from a rising middle class population. The growing public enthusiasm for athletic pursuits parallels the Chinese government's efforts to implement a wide range of relevant reforms, with a goal to build a $813 billion sports industry by 2025. This strategy covers everything from improved fitness to encouraging investment, grassroots sports, elite performance, and growth of sports IP whether traditional or new, international or domestic.

These trends have resulted in a nationwide drive to improve and expand domestic sports leagues, teams, events, media, venues, training, and participation; along with a rapidly growing demand for sports content, management, marketing and technology. Meanwhile, this dynamic offers a fertile (though complex) environment for all sorts of international sports properties, brands, agencies, and related entities to enter and grow the China market.

AmCham Shanghai's inaugural Sports Forum will provide insight on the key issues, opportunities and challenges in China's sports sector as well as trends shaping the future of sports here. This will offer great platform to acquire a better understanding of China's sports market, enhance connectivity to it and share best practices. Gear up for the next big growth market in China!
