"Industry 4.0" was originally coined in 2011, and it is currently a term that covers a vast array of technologies and methodologies that is implemented by industry leaders in China today. Just three years ago, the question was "What is Industry 4.0?" Today, it is "How do I develop a practical Industry 4.0 roadmap to increase my competitiveness?"


The Manufacturers' Business Council at AmCham Shanghai invites you to join a workshop that will explore Industry 4.0's four design principles: interconnection, information transparency, technical assistance, and decentralized decisions.


This panel discussion will focus on the business process and business model innovation that is enabled by Industry 4.0 as well as the challenges pertaining to its implementation.


The workshop will take place during the CaoHeJing Innovation Week. Participants are also welcome to join the activities occurring throughout the day beginning at 9 am.

He is currently the Global Chair of KPMG’s Industrial Manufacturing Industry Sector which includes Aerospace & Defense, Engineering & Industrial Products, Metals and Conglomerates. In this role he is responsible for building the KPMG brand in the Sector through the development of industry leading services, thought leadership and go to market strategies to support the largest Industrial Manufacturers in the world. In addition, Doug leads KPMG’s Global Aerospace & Defense practice with responsibility for managing a global community of more than 1800 professionals.

    Bernd is the founder and general manager of Smart Factory Kunshan, a public-private partnership with the Kunshan government that provides a 14,000 square meter demonstration center for smart factory technologies. Bernd is also the general manager of Startup Factory Kunshan, which is a ‘factory-as-a-service’ that hosts production lines for 34 European manufacturers in China. He previously served as general manager of German Industry and Commerce Ltd., where he helped dozens of German companies establish their business in China.

    Zhen Wei is director of Advanced Technology Shanghai at Rockwell Automation. He is responsible for applied R&D and product development within Shanghai R&D center. He is responsible for developing and managing technology to enable the future generation of Rockwell Automation’s industrial automation products.

    Zhen Wei joined in Rockwell Automation since 2002. He led the team that developed the DeviceLogix technology and supported this technology being successfully adopted by over 10 types of products with Rockwell Automation. He was actively leading the research on Distributed Control System based upon IEC 61499 framework. In 2008 he was recognized as Rockwell Automation’s Asia Pacific Outstanding Engineer award for his contribution.

    Zhen Wei is a member of the IEC TC 65 WG13 and a member of SAC TC 338. He has authored 10+ papers during his academic research and holds over 10 US and international patents, in industrial communications and distributed control.

    Currently Zhen Wei and his team focus on the front edge technological area relevant to Smart Manufacturing, such as the scalable data analytics, the next generation industrial network, and the security technology standard and applications, etc.
