Event Details

AmCham Shanghai would like to invite you to join our program, Business Alliance Network: Motivating a Cross-Cultural Workforce. The event will be held on September 17 from 14:00-16:00 at AmCham Shanghai Trade and Investment Center. This program is designed to foster stronger connections between the Chinese and American business communities as you learn about a specific topic.

As organizations continue to operate globally, the potential for employees to feel undervalued and disenfranchised is also increasing significantly. Leaders who want to ensure their employees maintain a high level of engagement need to be aware of the differences in motivators of people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Employers are also facing new challenges, especially as millennials enter the workplace. How do managers communicate effectively with this new generation? Engaged and motivated employees are crucial to a company's success. Research shows that engaged employees contribute significantly, and deliver better results than those who are not engaged.

In this session, we will examine several major motivation theories, analyze how these differ in major cultures, and further delves into the approaches that successful leaders use to motivate employees.
