Join AmCham Shanghai's Food, Agriculture, and Beverage (FAB) Committee on Wednesday, August 22nd from 8:30 to 9:30 AM for A Talk with USDA's Ryan Scott: Working with the Agricultural Trade Office in China.



Ryan R. Scott is the current Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) at the U.S. Consulate General Shanghai, China. In an effort to better serve the U.S. agricultural business community, Mr. Scott will speak with participants about the ATO's role in China and how U.S. companies can best interact with the ATO office.


Some topics that will be addressed:

  • What is the role of ATO?
  • Does ATO get involved with advocating on behalf of companies?
  • What are ATO's priorities in eastern China?
  • What types of companies and industries does ATO represent and how does it link to broader U.S. commercial and economic goals?
  • What limitations does ATO have in assisting companies?
  • How can companies effectively work with ATO?


This session will be moderated by David Ettinger, Chair of the FAB Committee and Managing Partner at Keller and Heckman LLP.

    Ryan R. Scott is the current Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) at U.S. Consulate Shanghai, China. Mr. Scott has worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for over 17 years and has represented U.S. agriculture in several emerging markets throughout Asia (including Beijing, China from 2010-2014) and Africa.
