This Chamber Briefing is a joint undertaking of the AmCham Nanjing Center in cooperation with the European Chamber Nanjing and the German Chamber. The briefing will give member and non-member companies insights into current issues in China, with a focus on those with special relevance to Nanjing. The cooperation of the three chambers allows us to offer different perspectives and to foster interaction among the three business communities.


For this first chamber briefing the American Chamber will discuss US-China relations, the German Chamber will talk about the Shanghai Masterplan 2025 which also includes the development of Jiangsu region and Nanjing, and, the European Chamber will focus on projects and developments in the greater Nanjing area.

    Kenneth JARRETT

    President at The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai

    Kenneth Jarrett, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai since September 2013. Prior to that he was the Greater China Chairman for APCO Worldwide, a Washington-based public affairs consultancy from 2008 to 2013, and before that a U.S. diplomat from 1982 to 2008. During his 26-year diplomatic career, his postings included Consul General in Shanghai, Deputy Consul General in Hong Kong, and Director of Asian Affairs at the White House National Security Council. He also served in Beijing, Chengdu, Singapore, and had several assignments in Washington, DC. Mr. Jarrett has degrees from Cornell University, Yale University and the National War College.

    As an Engineer, graduated in Material Science & Technology and in Mechanical Engineering / Production Technology (RWTH Aachen), my professional path began in R&D and Production Technologies. During the past 21 years I worked for BORSIG, GEA and TURCK before joining Fette Compacting in Nanjing.
    Since 2000 I have been holding General and Senior Management (International Group level) positions with main responsibilities for Sales, Production, Engineering and R&D in the machinery / equipment business for various industries. In my responsibilities, it has been always my duty to drive businesses and operations; including strategic business and organizational development, change management, administration and personnel management on international level. My “China experience” started with improving and extending the operations of a JV (joint venture) back in 2004/05. Since January 2010, I am living and working in China as MD for WFOEs in Shanghai, Tianjin and now Nanjing. I am married and have two grown-up daughters.

    Ms. Daisy Zhu, the manager of Business Development & Membership at the German Chamber of Commerce in China | Shanghai.

    Before joining the German Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Zhu worked as Marketing Manager Asia at a German owned global technology group which is one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe. She was responsible for whole Marketing team in Asia with functions of Market Intelligence, Product Promotion and PR & Events.

    Ms. Zhu holds a master’s degree in Business Administration in Germany.
