With 230 million people over 60 years of age in China, the Senior Care sector is one area which has seen much investment activity recently. However, with the industry still in its infancy, challenges remain.

Please join AmCham Shanghai's Real Estate and Constructions Committee and Healthcare Committee's roundtable on Tuesday, March 27 from 10:00–11:30am at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center. Simon Sun, Partner of PwC Strategy& Ltd, will address both the opportunities available and challenges faced, including:

    Simon Sun is a specialist in China healthcare and the life-sciences industry for Strategy&, PwC’s strategy consulting group. He is a Partner with PwC Strategy&, based in Shanghai, and he leads the Strategy Competency of China Healthcare and Life science practice.
    Mr. Sun has over 12 years of consulting experience with Strategy&, and he has extensive experience in helping clients develop corporate strategy, go-to-market strategy/commercial model, sales and distribution improvement, organizational capability development, JV and partnerships, and digital strategy. His experience covers the whole value chain of the health sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics, health insurance, hospitals and senior care, pharmaceutical retail and distribution.

    Co-Founder and CEO of YD Care

    Mrs. Serena Xie is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of YD Care (home healthcare start-up in China), and has 15 years of experience both in China and US in the senior living and healthcare industries.

    Serena returned to China in 2010 to lead the China business of global senior living and healthcare conglomerate Emeritus Senior Living and Columbia Hospital, both part of Dan Baty’s global healthcare empire. She successfully set up the first high-end foreign senior living brand and first foreign for-profit senior living facility in China, and also systematically localized the US operating model and training program to the Chinese market.

    At the same time, Serena was also responsible for making investing on behalf of Columbia Pacific Healthcare Fund in China. As part of her role, she bought and built a sizable portfolio of hospital and clinic, and successfully executed the phase I strategy in terms of market entrance and operating capabilities. In addition, she was a key member in securing the major capital investment from Singapore Sovereign Fund.

Prior to joining JLL, Steven was Vice President of Securities Operations and Due-Diligence for First Capital Real Estate Investments and FC Master Advisors, LLC, responsible for all primary and secondary markets offering activities. At First Capital, he led the securitization process for portfolios valued over 200 Million dollars. Previously, she served at American Realty Capital, where he structured the offering and operations of various REITs and BDCs. Steven started his career on the street being an investment banker out of Meyers Associates, LP, focusing on collateralized repurchase agreements for overseas listing companies. Steven holds an MS in Management from New York University and a BBA in Financial Management from Fudan University.
