AmCham Shanghai's Manufacturers' Business Council kindly invites you to an event on Manufacturing 2018 – Challenges and Opportunities on Wednesday, January 24 from 08:00–09:30 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center. Industry experts will give us an overview of the major trends in manufacturing for 2018, including an outlook on the global and Chinese economy, the pricing of raw materials, Chinese government supply chain policy and enforcement of environmental regulation.

Speakers including Pliar Dieter, Senior Partner at Solidiance, Norman Gu, General Manager of Hormel (China) and Haoding Wen, Vice President, Business Division Transmission Systems of Schaeffler Trading and will share their insights and experiences on how to keep high growth in their respective competitive industries.

    General Manager at Hormel (China) Investment Co., Ltd

    Norman Gu has been the General Manager of Hormel (China) Investment Co., Ltd since May 2016, responsible for Hormel’s overall China strategy, business development and daily operation.

    Norman had been engaged in sales and marketing in for his entire career and had has rich experience in the Food Service business segment. Norman joined Hormel in 2003 as a Regional Sales Manager - East China. In 2006, he was relocated to Beijing Hormel and promoted as Sales Director, then back . He returned to Shanghai Hormel as Sales Director in 2008. He became Director of the Foodservice Business Unit in 2010. In 2014, he was named as VP of Sales & Marketing China and was responsible for the entire commercial operation for the company.

    Norman holds an MBA degree from Renmin University of China.

He leads the business and has holistic responsibilities for the day-to-day operations. He focuses on developing organization and programs that deliver results and efficiencies and playing plays a leading role in the definition and implementing implementation of the mid-term business development and annual P&L target. Significantly heHe significantly increased the local content in helpingwhich helped to increase China sales turn over 20 times more from 2009 to 2017.

    Prior to joining Schaeffler, Haoding served as Area Sales Manager of for LuK GmbH & Co.Ohg from 2003-2009. Previously, he was a controller at Deutsche Bank am Main and Cost Controlling of IT service for Deutsche Bank global legal entities.

    Haoding received his bachelor’s degree from Tong JiTongji University in Shanghai and a master’s degree from Technical University Karlsruhe and University Stuttgart, Germany

Frequently sought out as a market expert on China and Asian related trade matters, Pilar is a frequent panelist and speaker at emerging markets and global trade conferences and widely published in various media including the Wall Street Journal, Shanghai Business Review, Shanghai Daily, China Economic Review, the Financial Times, the South China Morning Post and Supply Chain Quarterly. Following her time at Accenture Consulting, she led Professional Services and Product Strategy divisions in the Silicon Valley. Pilar graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, she holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and in 2013 served as a Governor on The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai’s Board of Governors.
