AmCham Shanghai's Manufacturers' Business Council (MBC), in partnership with Technology and Innovation Committee, welcomes you to attend a special session on November 8th from 08:00 to 10:00 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center as we explore Case Studies of Industry 4.0 – Implementation and Impact, Culture and Behavior Improvement through Digital Manufacturing, as well as Practical Industry 4.0 Deployment in Discrete Manufacturing.

Topic 1: Culture and Behavior Improvement through digital manufacturing
Is the purpose of Industry 4.0 simply to replace shop floor workers? Does China Manufacturing 2025 just mean unmanned factories? Before we learn and implement newer technologies, we need to think through why we want to implement those technologies. Shuo Chen, General Manager of GE Suzhou will share his experience in using digitial systems to change culture and to transform a newly acquired factory into one o f the most competitive factories in the industry.

Topic 2: Practical Industry 4.0 Deployment in Discrete Manufacturing
The estimated value that “smart factories” will add to the global economy over the next five years ranges from $300 billion to $3 trillion. These numbers are guesses. But there is a growing consensus that core sensing, networking, and computing technologies have declined in cost and improved in capability to the point that use cases are now practical for many manufacturers.

Most “smart factories” will be built incrementally through targeted investments in brownfield facilities. Erik Walenza will interview Frederic Deng regarding Industry 4.0 solutions for discrete manufacturers with production lines.
