AmCham Shanghai invites you to join a keynote presentation on Friday, June 30 from 08:00-09:30 at the Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel by prominent technology expert Anthony Scriffignano, Chief Data Scientist at Dun and Bradstreet. Dr. Scriffignano will explore new ways of thinking and approaches to problem solving that business leaders need to succeed in an era of big data, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and other transformational technologies.

He will be joined by Jim McGregor, China Chairman of APCO Worldwide, and Caroline Pan, VP of Strategy & Marketing at Honeywell, who will share their insights on China’s rapidly evolving business and regulatory landscape, and discuss implications for both policymakers and corporate strategists. Dr. Scriffignano is an internationally recognized data scientist with experience spanning over 35 years in multiple industries and enterprise domains.

Dr. Scriffignano regularly presents at business, government and academic venues globally regarding emerging trends in data and information stewardship, the “Big Data” explosion, artificial intelligence, multilingual challenges in business identity and malfeasance in commercial settings.

Jim McGregor is an American author, journalist, and businessman who has lived in China for more than 25 years, and a professional speaker and commentator who specializes in China business, politics, and society.

Caroline Pan has spent the past 20+ years driving growth initiatives and global expansion efforts at industrial and high-tech multinationals such as Digital Equipment, Ford, Intel, HP, and Honeywell. She is a leading China corporate strategist and focuses on the emerging technologies and disruptive business models that will shape the future of consumers’ lives.

    Anthony Scriffignano has over 35 years experience in information technologies, Big-4 management consulting, and international business. Sciffignano leverages deep data expertise and global relationships to position Dun & Bradstreet with strategic customers, partners, and governments. A key thought leader in D&B’s worldwide efforts to discover, curate, and synthesize business information in multiple languages, geographies, and contexts, he has also held leadership positions in D&B’s Technology and Operations organizations. Dr. Scriffignano has extensive background in linguistics and advanced computer algorithms, leveraging that background as primary inventor on multiple patents and patents pending for D&B.

    Scriffignano has also held senior positions with other multinational organizations. This experience includes extremely large ERP implementations and worldwide organizational change and technology adaptation efforts. He has advised firms in financial services, manufacturing (chemicals and pharmaceuticals) and information technologies. He maintains CPIM certification from APICS, the internationally-recognized Association for Operations Management, in production and inventory management.

    James McGregor is the chairman of APCO Worldwide's greater China region and author of two highly regarded books: No Ancient Wisdom, No Followers: The Challenges of Chinese Authoritarian Capitalism, published in October 2012, and One Billion Customers: Lessons from the Front Lines of Doing Business in China, published in 2005. He was a veteran reporter for The Wall Street Journal, and prior to joining APCO, he was founder and CEO of a China-focused consulting and research firm for hedge funds. He also held previous roles as a senior adviser for Ogilvy Public Relations China and the China managing partner for GIV Venture Partners, a venture capital fund that focused on technology and Internet investments in China and India. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Atlantic Council, a Global Council member of the Asia Society, a board member of the U.S.-China Education Trust and a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

Previously, Ms. Pan was the Vice President of Emerging Markets for Hewlett-Packard’s Printing and Personal Systems division. She joined HP after 11 years with Intel Corporation, where her last role was Senior Director, China Strategy Office. Prior to Intel, she worked at Digital Equipment Corporation and Ford Motor Company. Ms. Pan is also an angel investor, startup advisor, and former Chair of the Entrepreneurship Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an M.B.A. from Harvard. She has been based in China since 2005.

Earlier at AOL Brown served as SVP of Technology and Chief Data Officer.

    A New York native, Curtis is a technology leader with more than 25 years of experience across a range of media, internet, information and education-technology driven businesses. He has an extensive background in technology transformation and building and scaling large enterprises, web sites and technical teams. An Internet pioneer, Curtis built and launched one of the first music e-commerce sites, MusicBoulevard/CDNow, in 1995.

    He has held the title of CTO at Skymall, Oxygen Media, The Princeton Review, McGraw-Hill, Washington Post/Kaplan and AOL. Curtis also has extensive experience in product and user experience (UX/UI) managing design studios and product teams in several of his prior positions. Curtis has lectured at Columbia University in the field of Executive Information Technology Management, served as a member of the Technology Advisory Board at the New School and the CTO Advisory Council for InfoWorld magazine. He currently serves as an advisor to the Irish Development Association (IDA), as an advisor to the NYC Media Lab, and as an Executive Advisor Board member to Cloudera. Curtis is also a governing member of the NYC CIO Summit and a founding member of the New York City CTO Club, a now 15 year-old institution.
