Join AmCham Shanghai's Retail Committee for a fireside chat on the science behind China's evolving beauty industry on Tuesday, July 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room.

As part of our fireside chat series, this session's featured speaker is Dr. Le Du, Founder of UNISKIN, a pioneering Chinese skincare brand that leverages advanced biotechnology and personalized formulations to deliver tailored skincare solutions. Dr. Du will share his journey from UCLA scientist and clinical doctor to entrepreneur and discuss how UNISKIN uses academic research and AI diagnostics to develop products for the Chinese skin phenotype.

Dr. Du will also explore strategies for global expansion and how China's new innovation model โ€” combining deep tech, consumer agility and bridging Western medical research with China's digital ecosystem โ€” is reshaping the future of the cosmetics industry.

    Le Du

    Founder of UNISKIN

Dr. Le Du, founder of UNISKIN, graduated Summa Cum Laude with College Honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he majored in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in New York and began his clinical career as an internal medicine physician at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

In late 2016, Dr. Du returned to China and founded UNISKIN, a skincare brand dedicated to researching skin aging in Chinese populations. The brand’s R&D philosophy is deeply rooted in Dr. Du’s medical background, shaped by his clinical observations and understanding of the significant relationship between ethnic diversity and physiological expression. Since its inception, UNISKIN has maintained a strong commitment to scientific research and academic rigor, aiming to develop products tailored to the unique characteristics of Chinese skin through a deeper understanding and study of these differences.

UNISKIN has independently published over ten international SCI (Science Citation Index) papers and, in 2022, led the development and release of the Standards for the Evaluation of Human Skin Aging, specifically focused on Chinese individuals.
