The U.S. Consulate General Shanghai's consular district boasts a diverse and vibrant community of more than 30,000 long-term U.S. Citizen residents. Covering the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, as well as the municipality of Shanghai, this region contains over 240 million people and has a combined GDP of nearly USD 3.4 trillion, larger than that of India. East China is an economic priority for the Chinese government and remains a prime destination for U.S. businesses seeking to capitalize on China's growing consumer market. 

 

Objectives of American Culture Fair
Objectives of American Culture Fair
  • Engage residents and educate them about American Citizen Services, as well as the medical, legal, counseling, tax, and other services they frequently seek from the Consulate;
  • Provide American Citizen Services outreach services, such as passport renewals, CRBAs, and notaries, as well as register American citizens in STEP and provide voter registration information;
  • Deliver presentations and answer questions from the community regarding student visas and general tourism/business travel to the U.S.
  • Introduce Consul General Walker to the private U.S. citizen community;
  • Provide a networking opportunity for American Citizens and the local community with Consulate staff in a relaxed setting;
  • Offer a forum to discuss and showcase American values and culture to the local community;
  • Present information and answer questions about studying in the United States;
  • Partner with representatives from the medical, educational, counseling, tax preparation, and food industries to provide guests with vital information for living safe, healthy, and productive lives in East China.
