The AmCham Shanghai Financial Services Committee (FSC) proudly invites you to join our next event featuring Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink, Partner at The Asia Group, along with our Monthly China Economy Briefing, on Wednesday, September 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.

With Asia at the center of today's geopolitical, economic, and security challenges, the trajectory of U.S. policy in the region will shape not only diplomatic outcomes but also the operating environment for global business. Ambassador Kritenbrink brings deep expertise from his diplomatic careerโ€”ranging from navigating the complexities of U.S.-China relations to fostering broader cooperation across the Indo-Pacific.

During the event, Ambassador Kritenbrink will examine how evolving U.S.-Asia relations are reshaping supply chains, investment decisions, market access, and risk management. It will also highlight the challenges ahead and the strategic opportunities for companies navigating an increasingly complex regional landscape.

Prior to Ambassador Kritenbrink's speech, Han Lin, Associate Professor of Practice in Finance at NYU Shanghai and China Country Director at The Asia Group, will deliver the regular monthly economic update, reviewing key indicators from the past month and discussing their implications.

*Please note that lunch will not be provided.

As Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council (2015–2017), Ambassador Kritenbrink coordinated U.S. foreign policy and White House engagements with critical counterparts across the entire region. From 2013 to 2015, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, where he was a key player in managing the U.S.-China relationship at a time of rising geopolitical tensions. He played a critical role in high-level diplomatic negotiations, economic dialogues, and crisis management efforts, including maritime disputes and cybersecurity concerns.

Ambassador Kritenbrink’s diplomatic career spans three decades, with previous assignments in Japan, China, Kuwait, and Washington, D.C. He previously served as Director of the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs, where he navigated complex trade and security issues, and as Chief of the Political Section’s Internal Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, providing deep analytical insight into China’s political landscape.
