Helen Chen is a Greater China Managing Partner of consulting firm L.E.K. and is based in Shanghai. She is also head of L.E.K.’s China life sciences and healthcare practice and a director of the firm’s Asia-Pacific life sciences centre of excellence.

Helen has 30 years of consulting and industry experience in the U.S. and Asia markets and has resided in China since 2000. She is a frequent speaker and author on the opportunities and issues in China’s healthcare and life sciences sectors. Prior to joining L.E.K., Helen held senior management roles at several technology companies in the U.S. and China. Helen has an honors degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University.

Architect Marshal Strabala, founder of STRABALA+ Architects, has designed museums, performing arts centers, convention centers, and super tall buildings. Marshall joined the Chicago office of Skidmore Owings & Merrill in 1989 and worked on many large-scale, high-profile projects: including the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, LG Kangnam Art Hall, and he was a studio head on the world tallest building: the 828m high Burj Khalifa. In 2006, Strabala lead the design team that won the competition for the tallest building in China, and for the past 15 years he has been the chief architect for the Shanghai Tower.

Strabala graduated from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with a BA in Design, and then earned a master’s degree in architecture from Harvard University. In 1995 he won the prestigious Burnham Prize.

Walker J. Wallace is the managing partner of law firm O’Melveny’s Shanghai office, and a leader of the firm’s China practice. Walker is especially sought after for his rich experience and success in helping clients negotiate the complexities of investing and structuring business operations in China. Over the years, this has included transactions spanning a wide range of industries, including consumer products, energy, healthcare, real estate, software, media and entertainment, retail and education. The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific guide named Walker to its “Hall of Fame” of China private equity practitioners in both 2021 and 2022, as well as a “Leading Individual” for M&A. Walker is currently legal advisor to the board of governors of The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and previously served as chairman of the legal committee.

Ian Driscoll is the publications and communications director at AmCham Shanghai. Previously, Ian worked as a freelance journalist and at Reuters. His writing appeared in the Financial Times, Weekend Financial Times, Euromoney publications, the BBC website, and elsewhere.

Born in Singapore, Ian has lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York, Shanghai and Sydney.
