We've all attended really awful, boring, and senseless presentations, haven't we? And haven't we sat through numerous presentations where the PPT slides were so full of irrelevant info that we fell asleep on the spot?

You've suffered from Death by PowerPoint! And sadly, this disease is still alive and well today.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Regardless of what presentation experts tell you about avoiding PPT completely, neuroscience has proven that a correctlydesigned PPT deck is a key influence tool.

The key word here is correctlydesigned PPT deck, which means that many "expert rules" are not useful when we want to influence an audience with our message and our PPT deck.

For example, have you heard of the 6x6 PPT rule? (6 bullet points per slide with no more than 6 words per bullet), or the 10/20/30 rule? (max 10 slides, max 20 mins, and min font size of 30). These still cause Death by PowerPoint and influence no one!

What then, are the golden rules of using PPT to influence based on science? Simple:

  1. One point, one slide,
  2. Font size โ€” as large as possible and fill up the entire slide if necessary to get your point across,
  3. Careful use of just two types of fonts throughout your deck, preferably sans serif fonts (sans serifs fonts are those without the curly tips),
  4. Images are good, but not the same old tired ones everyone's seen before.

Of course, there's more science-based rules and these are just some.

Interested in influencing your audience with your message and PPT deck? Then do join us for this session where more science-based PPT tips are shared, and you'll practice designing slides that influence!

Please bring your laptop or iPad along as we'll practice, practice and then practice some more designing PPT slides to influence.

    Jeff Tan

Your workshop trainer, Jeff Tan, is an influence fanatic! Which means he spends his days learning about the science of influence, or designing content or strategies to help his clients influence others.

In this workshop, Jeff will share with you the secrets of influencing others using a PPT deck. He’ll explain the best practices from the masterminds behind mind-blowing presentations like an Apple product launch, to TED talks where the speaker influences using minimalist PPT decks, to actual corporate decks from his work with MNCs that actually influenced the audience.

Naturally, Jeff is more than just a PPT deck trainer. He walks the talk and runs his own content marketing agency, which means he creates PPT decks to influence everyday!
