On November 6, U.S. citizens will cast their votes in what many believe will be the most consequential mid-term elections in recent history. The elections could lead to a change in who controls the U.S. Congress or could further strengthen President Trump's control over the government. Regardless of the results, the elections will have an impact on U.S. policies towards China and Asia.

AmCham Shanghai is pleased to present a talk by Ambassador Frank Lavin on the U.S. Midterm Election results and their impact on U.S.-China trade relations on November 8, from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Ambassador Lavin served as White House Political Director in the Reagan Administration and regularly briefed the President on political developments. This will be the fourth time he will be presenting to AmCham Shanghai on U.S. elections. Beyond the White House, Lavin was the Ambassador to Singapore and the Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade during the George W. Bush Administration. He is currently the CEO of Export Now which helps American companies in China e-commerce. With over 30 years of experiencing in government and the private sector, Ambassador Lavin will provide some perspective on the results of the U.S. Midterm elections and what this might portend for changes in U.S. policies in 2019.
