Join AmCham Shanghai's Women's Executive Network and Legal Committee on Wednesday, November 27th from 12:00 to 1:30 PM for a luncheon workshop on "Winning in Negotiation - East meets West" at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Center.


Negotiation is a discipline that critically influences profitability and value creation. The luncheon will be hosted by experienced negotiation consultant, Martina Hui, of The Negotiation Society. We will explore the impact of cultural differences in negotiation and Martina will share useful tips and techniques to help professionals increase their power when negotiating with a company/someone from a different cultural background. During this session, we will:


  • Explore the concept of negotiation and why we do it
  • Consider how cultural differences impact our ability to negotiate
  • Reflect on what could be holding us back

    Martina’s commercial career has provided her with almost 14 years of experience in both internal and external consulting with a particular focus on the Retail and FMCG sectors Since joining the company, she has a track record of successfully supporting clients in their negotiations, including those from her background as well as from the sectors of Technology, Pharmaceuticals, SOE, Oil Gas NGOs, Manufacturing and Chemicals.

    Martina holds a Masters's degree in Social Science and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Management, and Marketing from Monash University in Australia. She is a native Cantonese speaker and is fluent in both Mandarin and English She is currently also learning German.

    As Consultant for The Gap Partnership, Martina advises clients on bespoke, strategic negotiations and delivers behavior-changing development workshops across a range of sectors and industries.
