Event Details

AmCham Shanghai is pleased to invite you to the July Monthly Member Briefing on July 07, 2022 featuring a talk from Ambassador Kurt Tong on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). This event replaces the June 28 webinar with Ambassador Tong.

The launch of the IPEF has brought attention to the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific. As the U.S. adjusts its role in the region, many wonder if this implies a shift in the region's economic and trade patterns. A more active America in the Indo-Pacific also impacts the US's relationship with China, both major influencers in the region. To help members assess the impact of IPEF on American business in China and Asia, AmCham Shanghai is honored to host a talk by Ambassador Tong. Having served as Ambassador for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Ambassador Tong was one of the original architects of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement. He will discuss the objectives and components of IPEF and their implications for American companies in the region.

*Please note that the event is strictly off the record. Members should not record or share the content of this briefing via email or any form of social media such as WeChat, Weibo, LinkedIn, etc. Members who violate these rules will be subject to disciplinary actions.
