The Covid situation continues to evolve in Shanghai with quickly changing regulations and requirements. To provide members with more information on the current situation, AmCham Shanghai invites members to a special webinar briefing by Consul General James Heller and representatives of the AmCham Shanghai Covid Taskforce on Friday, April 1 at 11:00 to 12:00. Consul General James Heller, NYU Vice Chancellor Jeff Lehman, Delta Airlines President Wong Hong, and Dr. David Krason at Jiahui hospital will provide insights on Covid related issues including the latest government quarantine and testing efforts, impact on universities, flight and travel changes, and views of the medical community. The speakers will also answer questions from participants.

    James Heller

    Consul General at U.S. Consulate Shanghai

    James Heller is a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service and Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai.  His previous assignment was Director of the Office of Japanese Affairs at the State Department. In Washington, Mr. Heller has also served in the Office of Taiwan Coordination, Office of Korean Affairs, the State Department’s 24/7 Operations Center, the Office of Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus Affairs, and the Office of Multilateral Trade Affairs.  Overseas, Mr. Heller has served twice at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing as well at the U.S. Embassies in Seoul and Kyiv and with Regional Reconstruction Team Erbil in Iraq.

    Mr. Heller has a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Michigan and is a Hopkins-Nanjing Center graduate. His wife Lisa is also a U.S. Senior Foreign Service Officer. They have an adult daughter and son.

    David Krason

    Senior Physician at Jiahui

    Dr. David KRASON is a Hospitalist of Hospital Medicine and Chair of the Infection Control Committee at Jiahui Health. Dr. Krason received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Before joining Jiahui Health, Dr. Krason worked as an infectious disease physician at St. Paul Infectious Disease Associates in St. Paul, Minnesota for 7 years, then joined the Hospital Medicine Unit (HMU) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston in 2012. He returns to Boston several times each year for ongoing clinical responsibilities with the HMU at MGH.


    Dr. Krason is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.

    Vice Chancellor at NYU Shanghai

    Jeffrey Lehman is the Vice Chancellor of NYU Shanghai, where he oversees all academic and administrative operations. Lehman is an internationally acclaimed leader in higher education, having served as dean of the University of Michigan Law School, the 11th president of Cornell University, and the founding dean of the Peking University School of Transnational Law.

    Prior to joining the University of Michigan Law School, Lehman served as a law clerk to Frank M. Coffin, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Associate Justice John Paul Stevens of the United States Supreme Court. He then spent four years at Caplin & Drysdale, a Washington, DC law firm. Throughout his professional and academic career, Lehman has volunteered his time and energy to nonprofit organizations that share his commitments in the fields of higher education, law, and technology.

    Lehman received an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Cornell University, an MPP from the University of Michigan, and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a multi-award winner for his work both in the United States and abroad, including the Friendship Award, which is China’s highest honor for “foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country’s economic and social progress.” Lehman is also a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Peking University.

    Wong Hong is President – Greater China and Singapore for Delta Air Lines. He oversees and manages Delta's strategic and competitive financial position, as well as sales and marketing in the Greater China and Singapore region.

    Under Wong Hong’s leadership, Delta has significantly grown its China presence and commercial capabilities with strong expansion in both Shanghai and Beijing. Wong Hong is also being appointed as Delta’s observer member of the China Eastern Board of Directors.

    Wong Hong joined Delta in March 2016, from SATS, a leading service provider for the aviation industry, where he served as Executive Vice President of Food Solutions. He joined SATS in July 2012 as Executive Vice President for Gateway Services, and also sat on the Boards of a number of SATS' subsidiaries and associated companies.

    Prior to SATS, Wong Hong was Regional Director, Asia Pacific for Industry Distribution & Financial Services at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He was responsible for managing IATA's airline settlement systems and its accreditation program covering passenger and cargo agents across the Asia Pacific region.

    Previous to his position at IATA, he spent three years with MasterCard International and 13 years with Singapore Airlines, holding various marketing and management posts, including overseas positions in five countries.

    Wong Hong holds a Bachelor's degree (Honours) in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He is also a member of the Harvard Business School alumni.
