AmCham Shanghai will host the 5th COVID Update Briefing with industry experts at 10:00 to 11:00 on Friday, April 29. This session will focus on issues related to human resources during lockdown. It will discuss management of employees and their welfare during lockdown and closed loop as well as adjustments of HR strategies for talent retention and localization. Joining the discussion will be Damien Schrobiltgen, Vice President of Human Resources for Goodyear Asia Pacific, Sharon Yang, Chief Human Resources Officer of SPD Silicon Valley Bank (SSVB), and Chris Miller, Manager of Risk Intelligence and Consulting at Hill & Associates. The panelists will provide brief remarks on the current situation and answer questions from members.

    Risk Intelligence & Consulting Manager at Hill & Associates

    Chris is one Hill & Associates’ newest team members, having recently transitioned from a three-year role as business advisory services manager with the US-China Business Council. Chris has been engaged in China-focused policy and risk analysis for the past decade, beginning his journey in 2009 as a US Navy as a translator.

    He first came to China in Sept 2016 as part of a yearlong post-baccalaureate study program with a focus on Chinese law and policy at Nanjing University before settling down in Shanghai. Chris received his BA from University of Hawaii at Manoa and speaks fluent Chinese. Chris’ professional focused has previously covered the following areas:

    China nuclear power development
    US-China agricultural trade
    China ecommerce policy, law, regulation, and enforcement
    Standards setting in China, incl. Chinese international standards engagement
    Procurement policy and bid tender practices
    US-China relations
    Chinese automotive industry policy and development

    Chris has experience meeting with US government officials, attending Chinese government delegation meetings, organizing and hosting senior executive events, and authoring reports on various US-China commercial issues.

    Damien Schrobiltgen is the Vice President of Human Resources for Goodyear Asia Pacific, since March 2019 based in Shanghai. In this role, Damien works in close partnership with the Asia Pacific President and the Leadership Team, supports the business growth and transformation across the Region. Damien also partners with leaders at various levels within the organization to coach, support and provide guidance on organizational structure, as well as implement global/regional HR programs. This will include strategies for Change Management, Staffing, Talent Management, Performance Management and leading the implementation of Human Resource Best Practices.

    Damien began his career with Goodyear as a Human Resources Trainee in the Innovation Center in Luxembourg back in 2007. Over the last 13 years, Damien has held progressive positions in HR including Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partner for various functions like Global Operations, Innovation Center, Procurement, Finance, Sales & Marketing. Prior to his current role, he was the Human Resources Director responsible for Sales & Marketing in Goodyear across Europe based in the Europe, Middle East and Africa Headquarter in Brussels (Belgium). Before that, Damien had a chance to have an assignment of 4-years in Goodyear Global Headquarter in Akron (USA) as the HR Director for Global Operations (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, PMO).

    Damien has been recognized as “Young HR Talent of The Year - 2011” by HR One, the Human Resources Community of Luxembourg. He has also been recognized as the “2018 Outstanding EMEA Leader” during the Goodyear EMEA Annual Leadership event.

    A native of Arlon (Belgium), Damien is married to Aurore and has two children, Arthur and Avril. He earned a Master in Business Engineering from the HEC-ULG Management School of Liege (Belgium) with a major in Human Resources Management. He spent the last semester of his degree studying in Tennessee (USA).
