Despite COVID-19's rapid evolution into a global pandemic, China's coronavirus situation has in recent weeks largely trended toward the positive. Confirmed cases have trended down, dozens of provinces have downgraded their response levels, many companies have reopened for business and General Secretary Xi Jinping signaled that the Party is close to declaring victory when he paid an unexpected visit on March 10 to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. It increasingly seems that the country is moving out of the worst of the epidemic, which hopefully indicates that companies can begin shifting their focus from crisis response to recovery. Planning ahead will help American companies gain a good position against competitors when the market returns.
AmCham Shanghai is pleased to once again welcome Kent Kedl, Partner and Head of Greater China and North Asia at Control Risks, to share the contrasting COVID-19 trends in China and the world and give an updated analysis on how the companies in China should adjust their tactics as the outbreak has entered a new phase locally. Kent's briefing will cover:
- An update of the latest COVID-19 situation in China and the rest of the world, a summary of the government actions, and an assessment of future scenarios
- The new challenges faced by enterprises as COVID-19 increasingly becomes a global issue
- How the outbreak has changed the business ecosystem in China
- How to structure an end-to-end recovery process, from strategy development to program implementation, which will shape operations and opportunities in a transformed market
This briefing will be on the record and slides and a recording will be distributed to attendees. Please submit any questions you have in advance to jessie.niu@amcham-shanghai.org.
