AmCham Shanghai is pleased to invite you to the Webinar |April Monthly Member Briefing on Apr 12, 2022 online which will feature a talk from the independent economist Dr. Gary Liu. Gary will discuss economic readout from the Two Sessions – what do the outcomes of the meetings imply for the economy, economic policy, etc. He will also share insights into the economy in the year ahead, especially how consumption might be impacted by COVID.

    Gary Liu

    Economist

    Dr. Liu is an independent economist in China known for his focus on China's economic reform. He is currently the President of the National Affairs Financial Reform Institute. In 2014, he was invited to a policy-consultation meeting chaired by the Chinese Premier LI Keqiang. He is one of the founders of CEIBS Lujiazui Institute of International Finance (CLIIF) and was a founder and Executive Deputy Director of the Lujiazui Forum.

    Gary published the book The Next Decade of China in 2013. He was a member of the Global Agenda Council of World Economic Forum (2012-2014), and has written columns for FTChinese.com, cn.WSJ.com and Caixin.com. He was elected the Person of Year 2012 by Bloomberg BusinessWeek China, 2013 Chinese Young Economist by the Beijing News, and Person of Year 2016 of New Finance by Hurun Report.

    Gary is frequently interviewed by global media including The Economist, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg, Financial Times, NHK, NPR, Phoenix TV, etc. He is also a board member of several leading Chinese companies and an advisor to Eli Lilly China.
