After 40 years, the relationship between Washington and Beijing is as strained as it has ever been. Stalled trade talks, the rise of US-China tech competition, and increased scrutiny of Chinese and U.S. investment has led many to worry that the space for cooperation is contracting. Despite this, China remains an attractive market for U.S. businesses.

AmCham Shanghai is pleased to present the first installment of The China Business Conference, our annual signature conference in San Francisco, at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce on September 20 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (check-in begins at 8:30). This event will bring together voices of the American business community in China to discuss the commercial impacts increased US-China tensions may have.

The conference will mark the roll out of our 2019 China Business Report and the opening of AmCham Shanghai's new San Francisco office. Keynote speakers and panelists will give an on-the-ground perspective of the business climate in China as well as a high-level overview of U.S.-China relations, with special emphasis on IP issues and tech competition. Panelists include China business community executives from Microsoft, HSBC, Matthews Asia, YCP Solidiance, Ltd.,and Automobility, as well as Asia Society Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations Orville Schell and RiceHadleyGates LLC Co-Founder and Principal Anja Manuel. Representatives from the California State Governor's and the People's Republic of China Consulate in San Francisco will present the keynote speeches.
