The RCEP, if implemented, would create one of the world's largest trade agreements. Comprised of 15 countries including China, ASEAN countries, Japan, India, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, this free trade agreement seeks to link the member's strengths to create the most effective free trade deal in the world.

  • Guoxiong Zhang (Shanghai Director of Economist Corporate Network)

    Guoxiong Zhang

    Shanghai Director of Economist Corporate Network

    As the Shanghai Director of Economist Corporate Network (ECN), Dr. Zhang creates and delivers the ECN programmes and services in Shanghai. He is also leading ECN's economic and business research in China. In his current role, Dr. Zhang has been advising senior executives from ECN's member companies with macroeconomic and strategic insights.

    Before joining The Economist Group, Dr. Zhang was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was also a Visiting Scholar at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

    Dr. Zhang has extensive research experience in the Chinese economy, particularly China's monetary and fiscal policies, from both academic and policy perspectives. His research on the Chinese economy started at the Asian Development Bank in 2011, where he studied the macroeconomic consequences of Renminbi appreciation. As a faculty member at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dr. Zhang leads two state-funded research projects as the principal investigator. Dr. Zhang's research has been presented at numerous international academic conferences and published in several prominent academic journals. At Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he taught macroeconomics and finance.

    Dr. Guoxiong Zhang graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a Ph.D. in Economics and an MS in Statistics. He also holds a BA in Economics from Zhejiang University.

    Director, Asia Fulfillment & Logistics of Microsoft

    Dave Engen serves as Director, Asia Fulfillment & Logistics for Microsoft as part of the Global Devices Supply Chain Team. He joined Microsoft in March, 2012. Dave’s China and Singapore based teams are responsible for managing factory and regional fulfillment and delivery services to all of Microsoft Asia’s Channels and Customers.

    Prior to joining Microsoft, Dave worked at Dell, Inc for 11 years managing America’s fulfillment engineering team, as well as Director of Global Supply Chain enablement & Strategy in Singapore. Dave has also worked for various other companies including Ernst & Young, Deluxe Video, and Boeing. He has more than 25 years experience in roles spanning hardware engineering, management consulting, and global supply chain management.

    Dave earned a bachelors degree in electronics engineering technology from University of Nebraska and a Masters of Business Administration degree from University of Chicago.

    Cameron has 20 years management experience across various industries in China. He is a currently a partner at TidalWave, a boutique consulting firm based in Shanghai; and head of APAC strategy for FAO Global, a DC-based consultancy focused on global advisory services for SMEs. He is also an advisor to the National IDC Industrial Technological Innovation Strategic Alliance, a China based technology association.


    Cameron was the Asia General Manager at a global carbon fiber company for seven years, where he expanded the business throughout the Asia region, delivering an average of 48% annual revenue growth. He was also the Operations Director for a global sourcing and risk management company, consumer packaging, customized prototypes, and producing special sporting event gear such as the World Cup. Cameron also served as Business Manager at Microsoft. He has lived in China for 20 years in Beijing, Shanghai, Changchun, and Chongqing.

    Cameron received a Graduate Business Certification from the University of Wales, and graduated from the University of Washington with BA’s in Communications and Comparative Religion. He also serves as the co-president of the University of Washington’s Shanghai alumni chapter.

    An experienced industry professional with over 20 years working in the logistics and supply chain solution industry.  Jarrod is currently the Chief Business Development Officer for East Asia at Yusen Logistics, a member of the NYK Group.  He is also responsible for their Supply Chain Solutions division in China.

    Jarrod has held senior leadership positions in Japan, Singapore, and the USA, including over 16 years at NYK Line container division. 

    Jarrod received his MBA in Supply Chain Logistics from Rutgers University in 2007.

    Jarrod graduated from Washington & Jefferson college, and has his roots in western Pennsylvania.
