Ian Driscoll is the Communications and Publications Director at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai). Previously, Ian worked as a freelance journalist and as a reporter at Reuters in New York. His writing appeared in the Financial Times, Asia Money and several other newspapers and magazines. Born in Singapore, Ian has worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney. His background includes a master’s degree in international affairs with a concentration in East Asian studies.

Martin C. Laycock has been Senior Director Manufacturing since Aug 2018. Based in Nanjing, Laycock leads Celanese manufacturing in China. Celanese has been a long-time participant in the Asia region with established manufacturing, commercial and technology operations. The emerging Asia region continues to be a critical area for accelerated growth and global expansion for Celanese.

Laycock joined Celanese in 2003 as the European Process Development Leader and assumed the responsibility for the development of our Emulsion productions in Europe. He has extensive Chemical manufacturing leadership experience and has supported the company’s growth efforts in several projects in the Asia region.

Prior to joining Celanese, Laycock has held technical and manufacturing leadership roles for ICI. He began his career at Unilever Chemicals after earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Exeter.

Jens Ewert, is a Partner with Deloitte based in Shanghai office and China Firm since 2002, and has over 30 years of working experience in the professional services. For many years already, he is a member of Deloitte China Eastern Region Management team.

His responsibilities include our services to Multinational Clients (MNC) in China and some selected Clients across the Asia Pacific region. This covers our Advisory services (Consulting, Financial Advisory, Tax&Legal and Risk Advisory) as well as our Audit & Assurance.

Since mid-2019, Jens has also taken on the role as Deloitte China Life Science & Health Care Leader – covering an industry team comprising over 600+ partners and professionals focused on working with Life Science & Pharma companies as well as Healthcare and related services groups.

Jens is currently a Board member at the EUCCC Shanghai Chapter, and the National Chair of the Investment Working group since 2016 at the EU Chamber in China. He also was a member of the Board of Trustees at the French School in Shanghai starting in 2004 and the Chairman of the Board between 2007 until mid-2015.

Throughout his career, other than China, he has been living and working in France, Hungary, the US, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Jens holds German and French nationalities, and calls France – beyond Shanghai - his home. He received his education in France (Paris), University Paris Dauphine and the Institut des Sciences Politiques de Paris, and holds a CPA Australia license. He is a passionate Tennis and Golf player in Shanghai, when time permits.
