AmCham Shanghai's Real Estate & Construction Committee invites you to an exclusive tour of naked Castle on Nov. 1st to explore the architecture's design philosophy and building sustainability. This tour is co hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai.


The tour will include a 90 minutes' guided walk around the castle and an interactive and in-depth discussion. This tour will not only reveal the process of how the castle was built from the ground and how it uses natural existing rocks into its modern structure, it will also showcase how the construction reaches its eco-credential, such as water recycling, the geothermal boreholes system and composting of restaurant waste.


naked Castle revived the ruins of "Villa #1 of Moganshan" - a property originally built by Scottish missionary Dr. Duncan Main in 1910. A project almost 6 years in the making, naked Castle currently features 95 guest rooms, two restaurants, a Rock Theatre and other facilities.


naked Castle has won a number of awards and recognitions:

Please note the tour will be 3 hours each way. The ticket includes the transportation and lunch expense. Seats are limited, please register as early as possible. Attendees are welcome to stay at either naked Castle or naked Stables at a special AmCham member rate.

    Eric Liao

    Associate Director of Architecture at naked Design Studio

    Eric Liao is Associate Director of Architecture of naked Design Studio. He currently leads naked Design Studio in designing the new naked Hill retreat and other naked Retreats projects, helping develop naked into the number one lifestyle brand in China for fresh, fun, green and great experiences.

    Eric has more than 10 years of experience in architecture and design related fields. Prior to joining naked Design Studio, Eric worked for multiple international architecture firms including AECOM Architecture and ATKINS Architecture, leading projects including St. Regis Sanya, Hangzhou PowerLong Riverside Plaza and high-rise building complex such as Greenland Pingxiang Twin Tower.

    Eric is from Taiwan, China. He graduated from Taiwan Feng Chia University with the Bachelor of Architecture and then completed the Master of Landscape Architectural Design from The Washington State University in USA.
